For those of you who have, or our planning, on doing a rehearsal dessert party, why did you choose to do this? I am currently planning on a epcot DP and Sago Cay wedding night dinner, but I am starting to wonder if it is really worth the $$?

Our reason for wanting a nice rehearsal dinner is that we feel strongly that we want to show people how grateful we are that they are traveling so far for our wedding and we thought this would be an amazing way to do it.

Any thoughts?

We are doing the dessert party as a rehearsal dinner/ welcome party for everyone coming. We're in the same boat as you, we want to pretty much say thank you for coming all this way just to celebrate with us. We figured what would be better then to have a private party in the park with fireworks. It doesn't get much cooler than that. You can't really do that anywhere but disney, so why not. Some of my family still thinks that getting married at disney is a joke and i think this will also set the tone for everyone letting them know that the wedding is actually going to be a beautiful and serious wedding, not mickey and minnie marrying us (even though that would be pretty cool).

We aren't doing a dinner with everyone. We are considering inviting the wedding party to dinner after the rehearsal but everyone would pay for themselves and we would all go to the DP afterwards.

Rebclay....just curious if you are doing a formal reception with food etc after your wedding? We are Trying to decide if the DP Illuminations as a reception would suffice or if we should do the rehearsal DP with a casual reception after ceremony. UGH So many decisions and chances are you wont please everyone. :( I will check out your PJ!

Even though I'm not anywhere near the planning phase yet, I know a dessert party will be the perfect thing for us!

Probably ten years ago my mother and grandmother were really upset about some event our whole family attended at Epcot. The guy they ended up speaking with invited us all down to a private party in the UK....a dessert party. She still talks about that guy and the party til this day, so I know she would be ecstatic to know we can do this for ourselves! (Now I have to think of a way to surprise her!)

I think it's a great and unique idea. Where else can you watch the fireworks and have a party!

I am having a formal dinner. We are having a wishes wedding. Our reception is at the Bistro de Paris at Epcot right after our ceremony. It is going to be a brunch/lunch reception but we figure spending $75 per person on a meal is a nice enough meal for everyone.

We are doing a DP for our welcome party. It was my MIL's idea...I wanted a small rehearsal dinner she wanted to invite EVERYONE. A DP was more in a her budget than a dinner for 40 people. We will do the rehearsal and dinner, just parents and bridal party, then we will do our DP. We also didn't want to plan too many events as many of our guests are using this as a vacation:goodvibes

We are doing ours at UK although we are still holding out hope for Italy West.

We did a DP after our rehearsal at Sago Cay. It got moved inside due to rain that evening but it was fun regardless since we got to eventually go outside prior to the fireworks going off!! The food was SO good and it was just a fun way for everyone to hang out prior to the big day!! It was a great option for us especially since we had a late evening rehearsal and it just worked well with the timing.

I am planning on have DP for a rehearsal dinner as well. We are having our rehearsal dinner late so we can see the MK fire works from the California grill. I really wanted to do something in the park so a DP at Epcot sounds like a good option. Did you know you can have other food then just dessert. There are just some limits because there is not a kitchen right there but you can have appetizers or a full meal.

I did! I currently have appetizers as part of my menu!

Just in the early stages of looking at Disney weddings atm but I think we would have a DP the night before as like a welcome party.
Where can I find all the details about menus and locations to choose?

Oooo is there a menu on Magicalkingdoms for that? I just saw the dessert menus! :goodvibes

Look under "Dinners" - there are three Epcot dinner/dinner-enhancement menus that will give you an idea of the appetizers you can add. Just know that there are now separate food and beverage minimums for each site if you want a full-blown meal, and they ain't cheap!
