My DD will be performing with student group in Downtown Disney. Trying to plan the day ahead of time of see her. Any thoughts as to where these performances take place? How long will it take to get from MK to Downtown?

It will most likely be on a stage there, I'm sure Robo may be by with a map, but to get to DTD from the MK the quickest way is to walk over to the Contemporary and take a DTD bus from there.

I say at least an hour to get out of MK walk over to CR, wait for bus, ride to DTD and walk to the stage. Now that I typed that out I would give it a little over an hour.

Hello! DD performed with her dance academy in June. It was one of my favorite trips ever (and we go often)! They perform on the stage in DTD. You will get a schedule ahead of time so you will know the day and time of her performance. Only performers and the teachers are allowed on the bus to the performance. We went down a little early and stayed at Boardwalk and then transferred over to POR with the rest of the school. Once you have your schedule it will be an easier day to plan. My best friend's daughter is my dd bf so it worked out great. We split everything but the best thing we split were taxis!! Service to DTD in my opinion is long and annoying. I always take a taxi to and from. When the girls finished dancing they had to go back on the bus and over to MK for some photos and then to Epcot for a dinner (that was awesome on the private patio area in Italy). We grabbed the girls things took a taxi to POR dropped everything off and then took a taxi over to Epcot and got there with lots of time to have a few refeshing beverages before the team even got back. Here is a video we put together of that trip with all her dance friends. great memories!! Have an awesome time!!

My daughter is the one leaping and we tacked on a One Direction concert at the end :p

Thank you for the transfer options! My DD is sooo nervous -- she
ll enjoy seeing your video Princess Olivia! Sounds like Disney has those performances ironed out pretty well -- their day starts at MK, then DTD and then back to MK. A whirlwind but I am sure very exciting.

Just wanted to add if you use a taxi from MK you will still want to walk over to the Contemporary and grab one there.

There are no taxis at the front of the MK and if you ask a CM there they may send you to the official MK taxi stand which is across the lagoon at the TTC.

I could swear I have seen taxis in an area between TTC and the Poly. This would be near where the old kennel was.

Thats the area I was talking about. The point of my post was that if you you need a taxi from or even to the MK for any reason its quicker to go to the CR versus taking the Monorail or Ferry over to the TTC.

Even a CM may point you to that Taxi Stand versus the one at the CR.

Agreed. BLT is our home resort the walk is easy to grab a taxi. Our day was scheduled a little differently so the taxi worked well. Doing your research is smart. The other moms were waiting for the bus in DTD and they were there a looooong time. I also knew I didn't want to have all of her costumes at dinner so dropping at hotel first was a good plan for us.

Nothing to be nervous about!! She'll have a blast and a memory to last forever. Don't be afraid to research a little and not always move as a pack. The girls and moms that wanted to get rides in and all the other fun stuff traveled around with us because we knew least crowded parks and had good touring plans. We did everything multiple times and this was going into July 4th week.

I escort performing groups to Disney for my job - the Disney Performing Arts Team is outstanding! They encourage the kids and help them to relax, making it fun for all. I was with a band a few weeks ago, and they marched in a parade at the MK and also performed as a concert band at DTD. Here are some pics:

The group will change and warmup at the staging area across from Team Disney, a short bus ride away. Then they will take their bus to the dropoff area here (the cones will be moved for their bus):

Your daughter will have the time of her life!

Sue....My 2 children are performing in April with our Band and Chorus from RI. We are so looking forward to the opportunity to see them entertain the guests at DTD. The DTD performances are one of the best experiences to enjoy and celebrate all the hard work the children put in to prepare. See you soon!
