Downtown Pittsburgh

We have a wedding to go to Labor Day weekend in downtown Pittsburgh. We are traveling from NJ so plan on a 2 night stay. The ceremony is on the Pitt campus as thar is where they met. The reception at a nearby church. Looking for a nice place to stay....reasonably priced. Doesn't have to be budget budget level.

There was a thread not too long ago regarding hotels in the Oakland area which is where Pitt is located. You might find some useful info there.

The thread PP posted is very helpful.

But just FYI the Pitt campus is not in downtown Pittsburgh. If you stay downtown it's about a 10-15 min car ride to the campus.

there is a Wyndom(sp?) at the bottom of the hill from the Campus, I have stayed there and its clean and reasonable. Depending where on Campus the wedding is you can probably walk from the hotel. I have to go to Pitt ever 6 months for medical check ups and can walk to all the hospitals from there.

The posters in that thread were extremely helpful when I visited last month!

We stayed at the Wyndham University Center, which is right on campus. Beautiful area!

Had such a great time in Pittsburgh; my daughter is seriously considering Pitt now

Thanks for the replies and the link to the other thread. The Wyndham does sound nice. We were thinking downtown Pitt since the ceremony is 12:30 and reception not until 5:00.
