I'm doing my first solo trip next month to DL. I've been to WDW before, but never DL and was wondering what there was to do at Downtown Disney. Any information about DL, DCA , or downtown would be appreciated. I'll be staying off site at the Marriott Suites on the associate rate....I would LOVE to stay on site, but couldn't pass up the lesser rate. ;) Thanks for your help!

<font color=navy>There is a lot to do at Downtown Disney. There is usually "street entertainment" as well as live music at the Jazz Kitchen and House of Blues. We often go to the movies there @ AMC theather, and there are some good options for dining. There is also shopping there ... you can relax in the lounge at the Grand Californian, watch the water fountain show at Disneyland Hotel, watch the fireworks from DtD, if you're not going in the parks.

Disneyland and California Adventure are great to visit, too. A cool thing is that everything is within walking distance. You should have a great time.

I usually hang at the ESPN Zone as I love sports. Catal Restaurant also has an outdoor circular bar/appetizer area that is great for people watching. As Mary Jo said there are many things to do at DTD.

Can you tell me more about the water fountain show at DL hotel?

This is not a huge show and it is slightly dated looking during the day but once it is dark and the show starts it is nice. Don't expect anything big like the fountain at Epcot. There are a series of 8 or so smaller fountains the send out sprays of water in different semi lacey patterns. Some of them even spin. They are lit with colored lights and go in time with music from Disney movies and Disneyland. The back drop lights up in different patterns as well. Because it is not a spectacular show it is usually not hard to get a spot to see it. if you have the time it is worth a walk over. I have noted however that many smaller children seem to get restless fairly quickly. The show is 8-10 minutes or so.
