Downtown Disney - Wyndham Palace compared to Best Western?

Have you stayed at both OR either one of these hotels?

We're planning an early summer getaway, and these 2 keep rising to the top of our list. #1 they both have balconies and they both have "queen" beds. Everyone has their own priorities, LOL!

ANyhow, the Wyndham is obviously more $, but I'm not really convinced that it's worth it. I see a $ of $160 for a suite at Wyndham (2 queens, sleeper sofa, 800 sq.ft. but no guarantee of a view). Best Western offers a Preferred Queen room (2 queens, sleeper sofa, don't know the sq. ft, with a guaranteed Disney View) for $105 + $5 for fridge. Obviously, $160 is a lot more than $110. The 800 sq. ft. room is bigger, I'm sure, than the Best Western preferred room. But, is it really worth the extra $50 per night?

Best Western seems a bit more "disney-fied" with the Mickey statue, etc. Is this true? DS's will be 9 & 11 so the "disney" factor is important to them, as is the pool. DM and I are most concerned with space (inc. a balcony), convenience to Downtown Disney and WDW transportation and feeling that we got the most for our $. I don't mind the extra $ for Wyndham if it's worth it. But, if their service is really as poor as some say, I'm not so sure!

Sorry this is so long. Hopefully, some of you will have some insight to these 2 places. Thanks for your time!

I think the Wyndham is a little more upscale. They have some type of spa and better restuarants. Sounds like the Best Western is a better fit for what you're looking for.

Thanks! Yes, I agree Wyndham is more upscale. You see we've been very spoiled in our WDW trips; the "cheapest" place we've stayed was Wilderness Lodge (and, I wouldn't consider that torture! LOL). All of our other trips were at WDW luxury resorts.

I guess my main concern is how much LESS will Best Western offer us than the Wyndham. I've stayed in "budget" hotels many times, but this BW seems to be a lot nicer than ones I have ever seen. I was actually really surprised that they're one of the few Downtown Disney resorts that offer Queen beds and a balcony.

Any other opinions?!?

We stayed at the palace last spring. You couldnt pay us enough to go back. Dont go there expecting "upscale" service. Its not gonna happen.

If you're used to staying with Disney, dont stay at the palace. Youll spend your entire trip kicking yourself. In fact if youre used to Disney I probably wouldnt reccomend you stay elsewhere. We were so let down after being spoiled with Disney that we came home and bought into DVC.

If youre budget concious this trip, have you thought about renting points from a DVC member?
