Hi all!
I just called WDW Dining (9/2/08 at 12:30pmEST) and they told me that they are not accepting any dining reservations as of yet. They supposedly do not even have the opening date yet to go by.

I was reading around town that TRex would open up on 10/14/08 and that ADR's were being accepted so that is why I called WDW and was told that is not true. I am assuming the person I spoke with is correct but I have no reason to not believe her. Just wanted to let you all know what I learned so far.

All reports I've read have just stated "Fall of 2008" as the opening time.

It is still not quite "Fall" yet, and I don't know a more exact projected date.

I had e-mailed the company on when they were taking reservations and here is the e-mail I received back:

Thank you for your inquiry into the new T-Rex Orlando! At this time our restaurant is scheduled to open in mid October of 2008 and we will be on a walk-in basis only until 2009. You may check our website at anytime for updates on our opening. If you are in the Disney area and are looking for a WILD time, call one of our Rainforest Café properties for a priority seating. We have one located at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park which you can reach at 407-938-9100 and one at Downtown Disney Marketplace (a block away from our new T-Rex site) which can be reached at 407-827-8500.

Thank you again for your e-mail and we look forward to your visit!

the restaurant will not be taking ADRs until January. it will solely be a walk-up until then.

they're looking at possibly November for an opening currently.

According to the Disboards Dining home page:

T-Rex Restaurant currently under construction at Downtown Disney is set to open on October 14.

1) The last communication regarding T-Rex
. . . opening Oct-14
. . . no ADR's until January, so there is a good debugging period

2) It has not been announced
. . . if Disney will take ADR's, or you call the eatery directly, like RFC at DTD
. . . if it will be on the new on-line ADR ressie system
. . . if this will be on the DDP, but assumed no, since no RFC is not on DDP

I am assuming it will run just like Rainforest at DTD and no advance reservations will be made even after 2009 begins

Not sure if you mean no advance reservations through Disney or strictly no advance reservations. You can make advance reservations for the DTD Rainforest by contacting them directly.

Sounds like they are still uncertain about that October 14th date, or November date, or even Fall '08 date, however, are pretty certain they'll be ready January 1st. I was hoping for this to finish ahead of schedule, but it will just give us another thing to look forward to on hopefully our future trips.

So...If I wanted to make reservations for the middle of February...I'd be out of luck until January to make them?:confused3 We will have nine people.

Here is what I received from T-Rex the other day and it talks about DDP being accepted. On the Build-A-Dino website it says that the store is opening October 14 and since the BAB company doesn't like to delay or disappoint I would say the store will at least be open by then.

You may check our website at anytime for updates on our opening or call 407-828-TREX (reservations are not being taken). We will be accepting the Premium, Platinum and Wine and Dine Disney Dining Programs. For allergies, please make sure to let your guide know and a chef will come out to your table to discuss options. Once the restaurant is open, you can also call the restaurant to talk with someone.

:cool1: YEAH looks like it will be open when we head there in November...hopefully won't be TOO busy and we will be able to get in. We were planning on eating at Rainforest the day we got there, but it looks like we will shoot for the Dinos!! :cool1:

For future readers, they are not talking about accepting DDP. T-Rex will not accept the regular or deluxe dining plans.

They will accept the premium and platinum plans, which in addition to dining include a lot of other things like resort recreation, Cirque tickets and tours. These plans cost in excess of $100 per night and are not the same as the Disney Dining Plans. They will also accept the Wine & Dine plan which is available as an add-on to the premium and platinum plans.

Rainforest Cafe follows the same procedure.

T-Rex is so large you can't miss it, but it's located across from Fulton's and the Lego store, on the opposite end of the Marketplace from Rainforest Cafe.

Thanks, my DH will be happy to know where they "fit it in".

For those of you that are Safari Club members, the email I just received from Jenn Gorka also indicates that they are not taking the Safari Club card at this time.
