Is there any type of shuttle to take you from one side of DTD to the other? Is it a long walk say from the movie theater to the marketplace. Looking at the map, it seems like it is bit of a hike. We will be using Disney transportation from AKL to DTD. Thanks.

i don't think the walk is all that bad.. 15 mins? but there is a boat launch that goes between all 3 sections. it might only start operating in late afternoon though (4 pm or so?)

Walking is faster than the boat or the bus. We were on the boat last May and I would swear that we waited for additional passengers before leaving. I'm talking a 15 minute wait. We also found out the hard way that the West Side bus stop is where they change drivers. If you happen to be on a bus during driver change you can wait a while. We had one driver that followed the driver manual to the letter. He checked around the outside of the bus, he walked up and down the isle, he checked every switch, and adjusted his seat just so. Must have been at least a 10 minute delay.

I also believe that the boat launch between the two only operates during certain times of the year. :confused3

To get to AMC theaters from the marketplace, get on ANY bus at the marketplace and take it to the next stop, PI. Get off at PI and walk around Planet Hollywood and there you will find the AMC theaters. Buses at both PI and MP are susposed to be load and go (except at PI when a driver change is happening) You will almost never wait for many additional guests on a DTD bus.

Note: Pick a bus that is NOT full. A full bus MAY bypass PI. Also OKW and POR stop at the closest bus stops at both MP and PI.

We've done it a few times and when walking at a leisurely pace, it's just about 10 mins. It's a nice walk because there's so much to look at while you're walking.

There is a boat that runs from Marketplace to West Side to Pleasure Island, and then back to the Marketplace. I think it runs 11am-11pm, give or take. It is rather slow at times, but it's a nice ride.

Would you rather the driver did not make sure that his bus was safe? While 99% of the shift changes will take less than 5 minutes, I'm not faulting a driver that wishes to check everything after all, he is responsible for the bus and everyone on it.

Good point. I guess I question delaying a already delayed system. Can't they shift change to a out of service empty bus? Some drivers take only 5 minutes but our guy was very slow and methodical. A adviser type person eventually came on board to see what the hold up was. This was when they were bringing on line the new dispatch computer system in May. The driver told the adviser, "just leave me alone, I know what I'm doing". The driver seemed like a nice guy, just a little overwhelmed. :drive:
