Downtown Disney to Harbor Blvd after parks close?

Hi all,

Another question from a newbie planning our first DL trip.

It looks like there might be nights while we're at DLR that DL closes at 9pm. Other nights at 10pm. With DCA closing even earlier.

If one doesn't leave DTD until after the parks are closed, can one still walk between DL and DCA to get over to Harbor Blvd? Or do you have to go all the way around?

Thanks in advance.

You will still be able to walk through the esplanade between DL/DCA to get back to Harbor Blvd. They won't be doing bag checks once the park gates close for the evening......gates/turnstiles will be locked.....bag check tables will be closed......so you'll be able to walk freely through DTD, the esplanade between the two parks, and on to Harbor Blvd.:thumbsup2

Thanks so much. It's really hard to picture the set up when you've never been there.

I've read about the very simple park hopping between DL and DCA (compared to WDW parks). It makes it sound like the esplanade between the two parks is a "controlled" area, where you have to have tickets to get into that space. So I was having a hard time guessing whether you could walk through there if the parks were closed.

Thanks again.

This wikimapia link shows DTD, the DL/DCA entrance area (Esplanade), and Harbor Blvd.

ETA: FWIW, here are a few more maps.

You don't need to have tickets to get into the esplanade, but it is a controlled area in the sense that, while the parks are open, you have to go through bag check first (if you have a bag) before getting into the esplanade area.

But park hopping is very simple. You just walk out of one park, walk across the esplanade, and enter the other park. You won't need to go through bag check again because you're already in the esplanade area, so it's very easy.

I've got it now. There are still ticket turnstiles at each park. You just don't have to go through bag check each time. That makes more sense. I must have been reading too quickly (I'm a little excited about a second Disney trip in one year :hyper: )

Thanks again everyone.

The map does not the show the general vicinity where the Homewood Suites would be. It's further down south. So you have to scroll down until you hit Chapman and Harbor.
