Downtown Disney - Ticket Exchange?

I will be staying at the BC Oct 4-9th. I heard the Magic Bands were being offered to VC owners in October, so I was trying to link my ticket to my reservation.

The problem with my ticket is it's old, 2008 10 day hopper that never expires. I have a lot of days left on it but I am told by my mother that you have to exchange older tickets for new ones now to get them to work?

Can I do this in Downtown Disney somewhere before we go into the parks Saturday? Is there a kiosk or guest services center I can visit? I haven't been Downtown since 2008 so I cannot remember for the life of me!

Try Guest services at DTD. I think they are between Arribas and another store.

You do not have to exchange the tickets to get ino the park. CM's at RDID "only" gates like EPCOT have hand-held magnetic card readers.

If you want to use any of those non-expiring days at Disneyland (its possible with the ol paper tickets) you must NOT exchange the tickets! (No matter how much uninformed CM's at WDW complain )

But, there's no harm in exchanging if you truely want to use all remaining days at WDW (other than the bulkier plastic card vs paper tix)

We have the same type of tickets. I think I would rather have them linked to the Magic Band if that is possible.

There are 2 guest services locations at DtD.

One is in the Marketplace area, the other is a window outside DisneyQuest.
I've usually found that the DisneyQuest location has shorter lines.

I had a non-RFID annual pass and I scanned the tickets barcode with the My Disney Experience app and linked it to my account and the next time I logged in was able to set my MagicBands for our trip last week to Pop. I also scanned to old (2008) KTTW cards that had 4 days left of a non-expiring for water parks & more and those are linked to my account now. Last weekend I went to guest services at DTD to exchange our paper PAPs for new RFID ones and didn't have any problems linking them to the bands

Thanks for the info, guys! Yes, I will be exchanging for RFID because I won't be visiting Disneyland ever. I looked at the DTD map and the guest services locations weren't on there anywhere, but I will follow your directions to find one. It would be helpful for them to mark them on their map, but that's what you wonderful people are for!

Both Guest Relations locations are noted on the map with a Blue Square with the letter i in it.

We had really good luck with the CMs at the Marketplace location. The line was kind of long though but they were better than the CMs at our resort and got things figured out on a ticket mess up. I would say you will have the best luck if you don't try to go in the evening. DTD is much more crowded the later it gets in my opinion.

Unfortunately I have to work Friday and don't land until 8:30 so my only option is at night :-( . Maybe I'll get lucky...

At the park guest services I got mine exchanged for the plastic ones . I have ten day none expiring tix too and I was not happy to see they were paper , I was thinking these will get ruined the first trip how am I going to hold on to them for a few years . I was happy with the credit card type ticket .

Those older ticket are not made of paper, but of tyvek which is a form of plastic. They are very durable.

So in the future you won't be able to use WDW tickets at DL? We also have some old 10 day nonexpire tickets, and have thought of going to DL at some point.

DL will be going RFID like WDW eventually. The WDW tickets need to have a bar code in order for DL to use a day off them. For right now, you need to have either a WDW KTTW with tickets or the old tyvek (paper) tickets in order to use days at DL.

When I was there earlier this year anyone with paper tix had to go to 1 guy to get in the parks all the gates had the RFID stations and there really was no direction to let you know where to go with the paper tix . I had mine switched to the ones with a barcode and I prefer that cause its more like a credit card .
