Has anyone stayed at any of the Downtown Disney resorts? My husband has a conference to attend in November at one of the resorts there, and it would be the perfect excuse for the two little ones and I to play at the World while he is expanding his knowledge. We have been looking at Doubletree Suites, but we have never stayed there. Any opnions anyone?

We've stayed at the Doubletree Suites and the Royal Plaza. Of the 2, I preferred the Doubletree Suites. The room was so big - a separate living area, and a bedroom. We did not use the pool, but it looked OK. The Royal Plaza room that we had was on the smallish side, and the pool wasn't big enough for all of the people trying to use it. The location is great on both resorts.

I have stayed there a few years ago. I started out at the comfort suites a couple miles away and it was horrible, so on day 2 we switched over to Doubletree. It was very nice and clean. It is a classic doubletree, good beds, good housekeeping.

We've stayed at the Royal Plaza several times. It's a great location to Downtown Disney and we would walk over there at night.

The only thing I didn't like was the bus service. The buses would stop at several of the Downtown Disney resorts before heading to the parks. If you don't mind that, then it's a great place to stay.

Thanks. We are actually staying at CBR in September for our family vacation. My husband just found out about the conference so we are trying to work on a smaller budget for this trip.

We stayed at the Royal Plaza last year. Very conveniently located. Be warned...you may end up doing lots of shopping since you're so close to the shops. I liked the fact that we were also close enough for those nights we went to pleasure island!

Hello,
I am also going down in November for a conference in the Downtown Disney area. I booked the CBR for 4 nights, but was thinking of one of the Downtown resorts instead. Does any of them have the extra magic hours? Since my conference is until 5:00 each day, I need to go at night to the parks and want to get the most time there.

Thanks

The Doubletree is good. We stayed the first time in 2005 and the parking was free. Now they made it more fancy and charge for parking. This is a pain but it is still a good choice.

Even if they charge for parking, it's still a better hotel than most and offers alot for families - space being a huge perk. Try to get a Mousesavers rate - one of the best rates offered and it includes breakfast usually for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Good Luck. :thumbsup2

We stayed at the Doubletree in June for two nights before a DVC stay. It was very nice, spacious, very clean, decent bathroom, nice amount of space outside the bathroom (mirror, table, outlet----14yo dd, need I say more??). I did use the Mousesavers rate, which was much lower than other rates I found. We didn't take advantage of the free breakfast w/ that rate as only one of our kids counts as a "child." We didn't use the pool or other amenities, sorry.

I doubt we'd stay there long with 5 of us, but for a few nights it'd be fine. If our kids were smaller, then I'd definitely consider it for a long trip. It was very easy for us to drive to the parks.

I've stayed at both the DoubleTree and the Hilton...I think they both charged for internet

DoubleTree: 2 room suite, nice size, small kitchenette in your room...basically counter, small fridge, sink, microwave, table/4 chairs, sofa/chair in living room side of suite...closet type doors to close off bedroom/bedroom large size, mini Disney store/and mart on site

Clean, well kept, nice pool (has game room too and pool bar) - restaurant downstairs, room service

They had just implemented an $8. night fee for parking

Stayed here twice, would happily return.

Hilton: stayed here twice...conference hotel, directly across from downtown disney...nice pool area, nice pool bar (ask for Rose -she's super sweet), traditional hotel room...couple restaurants on site, mini-mart on site, one or two boutique type shops.

For a family who wants a little extra space, DoubleTree is a great deal. My sister and I spring fling (no parks involved) at the Hilton -- plenty of places to eat, lots of pool space, and a shuttle to outlets, along with being directly across from DTD for shopping.

unsure on parking fee, didn't have a car when i stayed here

---

I've been happy with both experiences. I've stayed on-site, off-site, and in DTD hotels
