Just a head's up for those like myself who weren't sure. After reading here on the boards both that you could and you could not I decided to give them a call and ask. The answer was YES!!! I am now the proud owner of a dinner PS for Saturday June 4th @ 6:30. I don't know if I am more excited about eating there or not having to wait two hours to get in. I have been in those lines on a Saturday in June and it isn't pretty!!!

Did you call WDW-DINE or the restaurant directly? It used to be you could only get it by calling direct.

I spoke to WDW Dine two days ago, and they were not accepting PS for Downtown Disney Rainforest Cafe.

Did this change? We were there in early Feb and WDW Dine would not take a PS for the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney. They told us only the Animal Kingdom Rainforest Cafe takes PSs. However it was possible to get a reservation at the one in Downtown Disney by calling the restaurant directly 24 hours ahead of time.

MickeyEars: maybe you should double check that PS in case they misheard you and made a PS for the RFC at Animal Kingdom? And if it turns out it really IS for the one at Downtown Disney, that's great news!

Good luck! We had PS there a couple years ago and still had to wait two hours to get in. :sad2:

we went for lunch last year and just walked right in-got there shortly after they opened.we had great food. our dd11 has already asked to do this next trip. :flower:

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I called (407)939-2648 which is some type of Downtown Disney Entertainment line. It gives you options of pressing numbers for restaurants, shops, etc. I pressed #3 for Downtown Disney Dining and then #1 for the Rainforest Cafe. It was all very simple.

No, LisaS it was definitely for the Downtown Disney location because the phone number that I called and is listed above was for Downtown Disney Entertainment only.

I hope this helps!

Carla and WDW-UK: Thanks for the phone numbers! I will give this a try for our next trip.

I was also thinking of joining the Safari Club which seems to be a way to get seated more quickly for those times when you don't have a PS/reservation.

Yes, RFC at DTD has always taken PS, but you can only make them 24 hours in advance and NOT through Disney Dining (I think that is where the confusion is stemming from). If you are down in DTD for the day and decide to eat there, it is walkup only.

Hope that helps straighten things out.

LisaS, I too would love to join the Safari Club. I wish we could join prior to arrival but I have called their toll free number twice and have been told "no, you have to join at one of the restaurants". During both those calls I was told that all the benefits are available as soon as you join including the seating and the $10 gift certificate so I guess a person has nothing to lose by joining the day/night they dine.

eeyore0062, my trip is 94 days away and I made a PS last night with no problem. Surely when I made the PS last night the lady realized June 4th is more than 24 hours out. No, you can't call Disney Dining to make a PS that's why I called the number I listed above. Once again confusion when it comes to Disney policies!!! :rotfl:

You misunderstood what I was saying, I believe...
RFC has their own rules for making their PS... and I do not know how far out you may make your dining PS, but you Can't make them inside of the 24 hour window before you would like to dine. So, if you are visiting on Friday and decide that you would like to dine that day, you will not be given a priority seating, you will need to walk up and put your name on the list.

Sorry about the confusion.:confused3:

I agree that it would be a lot easier if they let people join the Safari Club online -- one less thing to do when you're hungry and want to get into the restaurant and order your food!

There is a Rainforest Cafe within a 45-minute drive of our house but we've never been there. I've never been able to convince my husband to go. It took some convincing to get him to go to the one in DTD on our last trip to Disney and (surprise, surprise!) he really enjoyed it. Now he wants to go back on our next visit. I reminded him again about the local RFC but he's convinced that it wouldn't be the same because it isn't at Disney.

I think I will use the Safari Club idea to see if I can talk him into trying the local RFC. It would be nice to sign up now so we're all set for our next visit.

Thanks to everyone for clarifying the unique set of rules for PSs at the Rainforest Cafe at DTD.

eeyore0062, I'm sorry I DID completely misunderstand what you were saying. I understand now!!! ;)

LisaS, if I lived that close to one of the restaurants I would definitely go and sign up. If I had any kind of "business" anywhere at all near there I would go to sign up even if I didn't eat there!!! Knowing me as well as I do I would drive there with no "business" to do and sign up!!! :rotfl2:

We also did a PS for the DTD Rainforest Cafe. We called the restaurant directly about 4-5 weeks before our trip and to our surprise they made the PS over the phone! When you get there skip the line for those that don't have reservations and check in directly at the Purple Elephant. We did have to wait a little (maybe 10 min.) but waiting times for those without PS was 1 hr 45 min so we were very happy! :Pinkbounc

We have dinner reservations for Mother's Day. I called Rainforest direct and they said they were not PS's but actual reservations. Don't really understand the difference!!

PS is the abbreviation for Priority Seating. That is WDW's term for making space, not quite a reservation, but allowing you the next available table when you arrive for your PS time.

Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney can be called directly and apparently does take reservations from all that have had success with it, lol. WDW Dine will not, however, make PS's for that particular restaurant.

Yes you can. The number is 1-407-WDW-DINE
