I am going to wdw for in July with my sister who lives in fl. We only have one day in the parks, but would love to go down the day before and stay overnight. This way we could enjoy the hotel/resort and go to dinner and hang out at Dtd and then head to the parks first thing in the morning (driving back to her house at nt). I want a nice place that is in walking distance to Dtd. I've considered renting pts at SSR, bit I'm not sure if its worth the $$ for one day. When the Dtd hotels are cheaper. I'd love suggestions of where we can stay and be able to walk to Dtd and have a nice room for the nt. thanks!

Have you looked at POR? They have a boat to DTD, which is fun. I could be wrong but I thought I read the walkway between DTD and SSR is temp closing soon for the DTD expansions- don't quote me on that I could be way off.

I forgot that PORs had a boat. I will check it out. Thanks!

We stayed at the Wyndham for one might in June and it was directly across the street from DTD. Be sure to reserve a tower room as these are more recently remodeled and quite nice. We payed about $100 for the night and I thought it was worth the price.

I was looking at those were there any hidden resort fees (parking etc.)? Was it directly across the street from DTD?

Since we're talking about POR, I'll leave this thread here. But for information on the DTD resorts and other non-Disney-owned resorts, you'll want to check out the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board. :)

Check out Mousesavers.com. They have preferred hotels and give you a link for booking with their discount. We did that one time, booked 1 night Pre wdw package at the DTD Doubletree with Mousesavers discount. It is all suites, discount included a breakfast. They did charge for parking. It was nice, but if your looking to walk to DTD, it's not one of the closest hotels in DTD. Prob a 20 min walk. But i got it for under $100/night.
Both the Hilton and Wyndham are directly across the street.
