I don't understand Downtown Disney. Do you need tickets to get there, is it part of your magic Your Way ticket for that day. I've never been, and am thinking my older kids might like going. We are staying offsite, and are planning on tickets for 3 days (Hollywood studios, has been vetoed), no hopping. Could we go to DD on one of our none ticket days? Where would I find more info specifically on DD?

to me Downtown Disney is like a big shopping complex

Depending on your family's preference, there is pretty much something for all ages - lots of stores, dining choices and the atmosphere is spectacularly Disney, you should be able to go to the Disney website and get info

Have you requested the free Disney vacation planning video? They have snippets about DTD on the dvd

We like to head over to DTD at the end of our days when we aren't really ready for bed and don't just want to hang out in our hotel room. It's mostly shops and places to eat but it's just fun to browse and hang out. As the other post mentioned...it is Disney.

You don't need a ticket for DTD, and you don't have to pay for parking. There are shops, restaurants, AMC movie theatre etc . . . The original Bibbity Bobbity Boutique is there, and there's also the Lego store that has a big Lego brick play area and a small playground.

Have Fun!

Hi!

Downtown Disney is the shopping complex more or less.. but also located there are :

- Pleasure Island - The pretty much for adults night-clubs owned by Disney. This requires a "WaterPark, Fun & More" ticket option OR a separately available Pleasure Island Ticket.

- DisneyQuest - The highly adored by teenage boys virtual videogames and such all under one roof. This requires a "WaterPark, Fun & More" ticket option OR a separately available DisneyQuest Ticket.

- Cirque Du Soleil's "LA NOUBA" - this is a separately ticketed nightly show in a specialized theatre ... Tickets for this vary in price and are not part of any MYW ticket purchase. (Except I think - the very expensive "Platinum Plan")

Hope this helps!

More info is available here on the DIS:

That link includes links at the top of the page for each of the different 'sections' of DTD!

So it's free to just wander, or eat there? Now how about the different resorts.
If I'm not staying on site am I able to eat in any of the restaurants in the resorts? Are passes needed to get to the various resorts? We will have a car, but can you take Disney transport if you are in a park for the day? Just trying to think of different things to do to keep everyone's attention while we're away.

I asked that question to the Disney rep and they said you may visit any Disney Resort and eat at their restaurants you just can't swim in their pool!

The other thing I would recommend is the Premium Outlet Mall is very close to DisneyWorld it has all the trendy shops a teen would want to go to with great discount rates!

Downtown Disney is great. There is plenty to do there for all ages. Disney Quest is great for adults and teens but a bit pricey. If you get the Water Parks and More addition to your passes you could do Disney Quest and a Water park on your off days and also includes admission to Pleasure Island which has dance clubs, comedy clubs and live entertainment. Lots of shopping. A great place to add to your Disney experience.

I have to agree. Downtown Disney is a great place to people watch, shop, grab a meal, etc. In a typical week at WDW we're likely to visit DD 2-3 times for various reasons.

TIP: There's a boat launch at the DD Rainforest Cafe. You can hop on a boat for a slow tour to Port Orleans (French Quarter and Riverside) and back again. This is one of fave things to do - usually around sunset.
