Downtown Disney Gluten Free options?

Any experience eating gluten free in Downtown Disney? If so where and what did you have? I am asking for a somewhat picky 7 year old child.

Rainforest Cafe? Planet Hollywood? Earl of Sandwhich? Do these places offer gluten free alternatives?

Hello! We LOVE to go to Paradiso 37 at Pleasure Island. We have been there before I was GF and after I was GF. Both times I would recommend this restaurant I actually didn't know they had a GF menu. We walked up to the hostess and asked if they had any GF options and she said yes and asked us to wait a minute. She brought back the manager, Thiago, and he whipped out the menu and brifley said what they could do, which was a lot. He personally seated us and said that the chef would be out to talk to me.

The sous chef came out, Chef Raymond, and went through every single thing that I could and could not have. I got the chicken and cheese quesadilla with fresh guacamole (which is not spicy/hot at all, I don't do that) that the chef personally made me Chef Raymond also made me chips that I could have! Their chips are GF, but he was worried that the oil may have had some cross contamination, so he went into a separate room and made me chips in a small sauce pan.

Needless to say I felt like a princess If you have ANY food allergy go to this place! They will do everything to make sure your meal is allergy-free AND yummy!

I would suggest calling or e-mailing them ahead of time to let them know that you are coming and you have a food allergy. This may have changed but the manager and Chef Raymond gave my their cards, so here is their information:

I haven't dined GF at any of the places you suggested. However, I've dined at several other locations...

Cooke's of Dublin (wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.id=391) - offers GF fish, fries, and onion rings. The onion rings (only option I've tried) have a tempura-esque texture, but are incredibly tasty (a little greasy, but a few napkins take care of this). Supposedly also offer GF fish and/or fries, though I haven't tried these yet.

Babycakes (babycakesnyc.com/) offers GF cupcakes and cookies. Highly recommended.

Pollo Campero (wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.id=581) offers several GF options (per campero.com/menu/allergens.aspx), though I would still recommend asking for a chef/manager.

We just recently tried the fish & chips and onion rings at Cooke's of Dublin. O-M-G!!!! I'll be writing up my review shortly but it'll definitely be on our places to return to. It was a big, flaky piece of fish with tasty and crispy breading (though it needed salt). The onion rings use the same breading. My 12yo isn't a big fish fan but she really enjoyed her piece of fish. It was a mild tasting fish and the texture was perfect. These were the first onion rings my kids ever ate and they definitely ended up eating their fare share of them.

At Babycakes, we prefer the donuts over the cupcakes. The donuts are amazing! We picked up a half dozen to bring back to our room along with several packages of cookies. We would have grabbed more if they lasted longer but because they use no preservatives, they don't have a long shelf life, even in the fridge. We actually ended up eating all 6 that night so we could have gotten a dozen (3 of us are GF among other things free). The cookies did last a few days in the fridge. They recommended grabbing the packaged ones at the cash registers rather than the ones from their counter if we wouldn't be eating them right away because they last longer in the packages.

I've heard that Baby Cakes runs out of stuff quickly, so it's a good idea to get there early. My question is: how early is "early"? What time would we need to get there for a good selection? Is it possible tio order something (not a cake - other goodies like donuts, etc) & pick them up later?

There was a pretty good selection of donuts, cupcakes, chocolate dipped strawberries, cookies, brownies and I'm sure other stuff when we were there. This was February 21 which is during President's week so a really busy week. That day we went for lunch, went to Disney Quest for a couple hours then went to Babycakes before heading back to our resort so it was probably around 4pm-ish.

If you pay up front, I can't imagine them not being willing to hold your box(es) in the cooler for you to pick up later.
