Has anybody ever been to the AMC Pleasure Island Cinema?

How different is it to our cinema's in the UK?

It might be tempted to go and see a movie one evening, although sadly my Mrs doesn't want to go and see, 'Snakes on a Plane'. :confused3

Well, there are two reasons, firstly - she isn't keen on flying and lastly - she hates snakes!!!

we saw narnia there, it was good but they seem to always have someone with their mobile on lol

ood night though

Is that the one at DTD, West Side? It's just like the newest multiscreen complexes in this country. It's was a good way to get out of the afternoon heat and we were lucky enough to see films that weren't released at home for another couple of months.

Havent been to the AMC at PI but have been to a couple in the US on other trips. They are basically the same as here. The seats are maybe a little wider and the drinks holder is big enough for one of those super size cups but apart from that any modern VUE or AMC cinema over here is basically the same. The only one that used to be a bit different was the Pointe Orlando one which had an Imax but I think this is screen is closed now.
If you have a free night and/or the weather is bad one night then its a good way of spending a couple of hours or so but I wouldnt go out of my way to do it if you have other things to do or there is a film on in the US which wont be in the UK for a while (although these are few and far between now)

We've been to the one at DTD and also CityWalk. Exactly the same as the multiplexes here.

That might be the only reason why we would go, although the latest movies out in the U.S.A don't look overappealing at the moment.

We went last September to this cinema just like the multiplexes in the UK but a better range of food (you must have the milk duds)

Also went to see Snakes on a Plane last friday and i must say it is one of the best films i have ever seen

I found them a lot noisier. More people talking, mobile phones etc.

It's great really comfortable and the screens projectors and sound are fantastic they even have those new digital ones for the true film buff have a look at http://www.movietickets.com you'll need the zip code 32830 I think it's the one for DTD :thumbsup2

Snakes on a plane-that title makes me laugh evertime. :rotfl:

We saw it last weekend and i thought it was quite good but DH thought it was terrible. :confused3

They do special ticket prices which include some refeshments and popcorn if it helps, can't remember how much they were last year sorry

We always take an afternoon out to go and experience AMC, its a break from the mayhem and if you go to a weekly afternoon showing its empty!!!

Last year we went to see Wallace & Gromit I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the seating is certainly like nothing in my home town! the seating is staggered so you always have a clear view and the seats are not disimilar to easy chairs and I particularly like the fact you can move the arm rest out of the way !!

Yes if you go to an evening performance its bound to be busy like any local cinema but to visit downtown during the day and to finish it off with a meal and a movie is great fun!

I highly recommend it

If you can go to Citywalk universal Sunday morning, $4 each for any film before 12 noon. We went to watch pirates 2 weeks ago, only 1 person in the place. $12 for all 3 of us costs that each here.

The audience are certainly alot noiser than we are used to in the UK, quite vocal but i guess some would call it interactive!

Its HUGE!! If you buy drinks etc find out what screen you are in first as last year we bought them in the main foyer and then seemed to walk forever to our screen trying to carry drinks, sweets etc only to find another refreshment place right outside the screen! If you buy a large drink or popcorn they do free refills which is good, we always seem to drink loads during films!

we try to go every year, normally early evening before dinner, it is a nice break. First time we went about six or seven years ago we saw a Patrick Swayze (sp)? film the name escapes me. It was quite an emotional film, it was so funny, people were yelling at the screen when they disagreed with something, it is certainly a more lively and vocal experience than we are used to in the UK.

AMC at DTD is as people have said a more lively experience than the UK but in a nice way, last time we went the audience clapped at the end which was fun! Enjoy. :3dglasses

Theres an AMC in celebration too which is alot smaller but normally less people there, maybe worth checking out.
