Downtown Dis "Shop the Magic Card"

Sorry for the repeat here, but I posted this on the Budget Board & didnt get any response....Hopefully someone here will know.

I stayed at the PC last week (jul 25-aug01) when I checked in they gave me a "Downtown Disney Shop the Magic Card".
When you make a purchase of $50.00 or more at a select group of stores (pretty much all of them)in the Market place, you get a 10.00 off your next purchase at anyone of the same group of stores. This card was reusable, and I had to show my resort id.

I did use it (frequently) and each time the shopkeepers weren't sure how to ring it up. This led me to believe it is something new @ WDW.
I was also chatting with people from ASM and they didn't get one.

I never heard or read about this card on this site. Does everyone get these or did "pixie dust" sprinkle on me...and I didn't know it?

This sounds like a great new perk. Our last trip was in May staying at CSR and we did not get one.

Anyone else get one of these or know the details behind this promotion?

I just stayed in POP at the beginning of June (may 31st till the 7th of june) and did not get one.

just a random question, the coupon for $10, did you have to spend anther certin amout of money to get that $10 off, like another $20 or $25???

Nope! in fact it says.."If the total purchase price of the merchandise purchased w/ the $10 merchandise certificate is less then $10, the remaining value of the certificate will be forfeited"

So if I bought something for 9.99 I would have gotten it for FREE.

I saved about 40.00 on this card. Me thinks Me got hit with some pixie dust. Only one other person heard of this.
