Hi, does anyone know how much they charge at the camera supply stores in Disney to download a memory card to a cd? Thanks, Christine

Just saw that someone on the Disney Tips board said they were able to download their memory card at Exposition Hall in MK. I think they said the CD was $13. HTH.

Just be sure before you delete the images from your memory card that the images are actually on the CD. When you get home make another copy of the CD for backup.

$12.99 per CD.

Are they able to keep uploading pictures to the same CD?

No, when you download to the CD it finalizes, so you can't add any more files to it later.

For those who have cars - dowloading at one of the local Walgreens stores only costs $3.99 per CD, and all of the Walgreens photo counters are open 24hrs.

You can also get it done at WalMart, but WalMart's photo counter is not open 24hrs, even though the store is (I think the photo counter closes at 9pm), so you might not be able to get it done if you go to WalMart after park closing in the evening.

We had to do that in 2005. Now I bring tons of memory for the camera.

The price wasn't the issue. It took them forever to get it done.

do you have the option of bringing a laptop and just downloading them to that instead?
saves you the effort of CDs and they will already be on your computer for when you get home!

It was me that posted on the tips board about the Exposition Hall. $12.77 is what my CD cost and 1 CD holds up to 120 pictures. My memory card only held 126 photos. I was able to download 120 to the CD and keep the other 6 on my camera. I realize $12.77 is a lot more than the CD would cost at another store BUT, it saved me from either not taking any more photos with 3 days left of our vacation (including Mickey's not so dry halloween :lmao: ), buying a disposable camera for $19.99 and not knowing whether the pix turned out okay or not, or paying $80 for the smallest memory card on property. I was THRILLED to pay the $12.77!

Also, the very nice guy working the machine in the Expo hall did all the downloading for me while I took care of photopass stuff and went back later and picked up my CD.

Good luck either way :wizard:

I do that on every trip. But I take some blank CDs with me and burn backups as well, just in case something happens to the hard drive in transit.

They still have that 120-pic limit, eh? I always thought that was rediculous, since a CD can usually hold a lot more pics than that (depending on the file size, which differs from camera to camera).

I'm not 100% sure, but I think there is no 120-pic limit if you download using the self-service machines.

Does anyone know how long it takes to download the CD? Thanks again.

Depends on several factors:

1) Whether you use the self-service kiosk or leave your memory card with the CMs to have them download for you.

Self service is usually faster, because there are seldom lines at the machines. It won't usually take more than 15-20 minutes.

Giving your memory card to the CMs might entail leaving it and coming back later if they have otehr Guests ahead of you. Leaving the card could mean that you'd have to come back for it several hours later.

2) The amount of information you're downloading (i.e. 100 pics @ 500k each = 50,000k, or 20 pics @ 3,000k each = 60,000k, etc). More, obviously, takes longer than less.

The easy way to find out how long it will take to copy files off your memory card is to use a card reader and actually copy some pics from the card to a computer. If you don't have a card reader, see if a friend or family member has one that will handle the memory cards from your camera. Take a bunch of pics of anything, and time how long it takes to download them from the card to a computer.

Thanks, I think I'll use the self service and have my kids get ice cream or something or go on a ride while I do it. Or I may break down and buy another card or two.
Thanks!
