Download Digital Pics?

We have a digital camera that we love and we have 2 picture cars. One that came with the camera and doesn't have much memory, and another that is much larger and can accomodate quite a bit.

Usually when we go on vacation, my DH brings his laptop, and we can download pics to the laptop and delete off the memory card.

DH isn't coming on this trip, and needs his laptop for work. I have a desktop. So, we won't be have the ability to download to the laptop. Even with the larger memory card I'm concerned about too many pics until we can get home.

Does someone have a (fairly inexpensive) solution to this? I hate to go and buy another memory card, as they can get pricey.

Thanks in advance.

Shelly

Each of the parks has a camera center where you can get film developed and I also believe that you can upload pics to a CD as well, although I'm not sure about that. I also don't know what the cost would be, but depending on how many pics your current media card can handle and how many you will be taking, it may be more cost effective to just buy a second media card for your camera. We just looked at Costco and they have them at very reasonable prices. Your only other option would probably be going to a Walgreens or something off site, which could be a little inconvenient depending on where you're staying, of course.

p.s. another tip - if you're going to have your pics put on a disk while you're on vacation, make sure the pictures are actually on the disk before you delete them off of your media card. I read another post quite a while ago where someone got home and the disk they purchased was blank so they lost all of those pictures.

do you guys have an ipod? that's what i use. I bought the memory card reader accessory. there are devices online that do the same thing, but they're not cheap.

How Much Would The Memory Card Accessory Cost And Would They Work On The Mini I Pod

I'll throw my 2 cents in.

I just bought an extra 512mb card for our trip. With our 4 mp camera I can get around 500 or 600 pics on that card. It was $35 on sale at best buy before xmas (with rebate). Not that pricey when you consider the cost and inconvenience of trying to get someplace to put your pics on a CD while you are there.

I would buy an extra memory card. Getting your pics downloaded on Disney property is expensive.

I would get the extra memory card - and do it before you get there because they ARE pricey onsite. I forgot to pack my usb cable so I was unable to download pics to my laptop when we got to WDW. I wound up purchasing another card at Walgreens - which was $59 for a 128mb. Cheaper than the $89 they wanted at the parks, but amazingly, more expensive than the $39 they were charging on board the Wonder! Anyway, a 128mb can be had fairly inexpensively at Best Buy, Costco, etc before you leave home.

Another benefit is that you can shop for a card with a faster write speed which will improve your picture-taking.

If you have a camera that is more than 4 mp you can lower your
resolution. I do is if I know I'm going to stick to 4x6 prints. If your
not going to print you can go even lower. I gain 50 extra pictures
from going to 1600x1200 from 2048x 1536.
