Download Digital Camera Pictures

Burning your pictures to a cd is a great idea, we were worried about not having enough memory so I think we will do this. I've heard it's about $12 on the parks and $3 in walmart or walgreen's so thanks for that!

Just one question, has anyone from outside USA had a disk burned? I am wary incase when I get the disk home to the UK it won't be compatible with my pc becuase of the different electricity speeds. Any ideas?

Also, do you know if they can link up and burn from any digital camera? I have an extra one I'm taking that has no memory stick, just internal memory and would like to know if these pics can be downloaded too.

TIA

Thanks, that would make life easier but all my money is blown on the trip at the moment! Do you think the cd would not be compatible in the uk then?

I wouldn't count on it. I assume you must install specific software on your computer to download the photos? That's how it generally works when you connect directly to the camera, rather than removing the memory media. So the CD burner would have to have your software. And the chances that they'll have it, or be willing to install it from your CD, are slim to none. I'd just buy another memory card for your other camera and leave it in its packaging. If you need it, it's there. If not, you can return it later.

I chose bringing an extra memory card instead of burning/developing on our vacation. We had so many good picture ops that I would have missed quite a few if I had to take time out to burn a cd, etc. Just a thought!

we just downloaded from our camera directly to the laptop (didn't actually burn to CD until after we got home). we just used the laptop to "hold" the pics, so we wouldn't have to purchase more memory cards.

there was a USB cord that came w/our camera that we can plug into any laptop/PC. for my dad's, his was a little different, no cord, but we used his actual memory disk and put it in the laptop.

I hope this makes sense and of some help,
V-

I think the CD would be fine. But I would agree with the others, I think you're better off bringing more memory cards and leaving them in the package until you need to use them.

buy a large memory card, if you can afford to go to disney, you can afford to buy another card.

How rude. I wouldn't dream of telling someone I knew what they could afford. Thanks to everyone else, you've been very helpful.

Stitch, thats not being rude, thats common sense. Disney is expensive to go and stay at, so if someone can afford to go, then they should be able to buy the biggest card they can afford.

I bought one of these for $60 at BJs wholesale. 20 Gig external harddrive. You just stick your memory card into it and press the copy button and it copies it. Then plug it into your computer with the usb cable and all the pictures are there.

I though it made more sense than buying more cards, or paying someone to put it onto a cd. :confused3

We went to Walgreen's at the corner of International Dr & Irlo Bronson and had our pics burnt for $2.99/CD. You don't have to leave your memory card. You download the pics to the hard drive and take your memory card with you. They burn the pics from the hard drive to a CD - that takes about an hour. We did some pre-Disney touring so we went the night before our Disney reservations started and burned everything we had taken so far. Still had to go back about 5 days later & burn more! I am new to digital and I will say that it was very hard to keep up with the number of pictures I had taken because I wasn't changing rolls of film. We ended up taking 957 pictures over our entire trip (plus 5 rolls of 35mm film)!! I was shocked!
OH - and I definitely checked the CD before I cleared the memory card. They have a picture maker computer @ Walgreen's and I just stuck the CD in there and browsed through my pictures to be sure they were all there. I had a roll of pictures ruined at Wal-Mart because (as the employee put it) 'the manager let a girl back here that didn't know what she was doing'. That's what finally pushed me into the digital era (about 2 months ago)!!!

Robert, I found it rude, please don't deny me my opinion. When you assume, it makes an a$$ out of you and me. Get it?

I could have won my trip to WDW for all you know. Also, memory cards are much more pricey here than in the US, from what I've read here. A large memory card would cost me over one tenth of what I have paid to go to Disney (me only).

I came on the board for advice, not dictation.

Thanks. Now I'll go off an have a fab holiday.

By the way, you guys notice that London got the 2012 olymics? :cool1:

Wow, LaPrads! That is what I need. I have a 1 GB card, which is 600 photos on my camera. But, believe it or not, I can run out on a 8-day vacation. I guess I'm a freak. In my defense, I take a lot of shots in action mode, which can fill up memory pretty fast. Even after we get home, this little doo-dad would great for managing my photo files, which are (not surprisingly) out of control.

20 GB of memory for 2/3 price of 1 GB card. Exxxcelllent.

Stitch, I am not denying you your opinion but I stand by my statement, If one can afford to go to Disney, (which in your case would be 6 or 7 times since 1995), then one can afford to buy a card. By the way, how much does a 1 gig card go for over there. Lets see, 1 less coffee or beer a week should pay for it. And yes, I did see that Britian was awarded the games, my cousins are happy about that, God bless you,,

i have a portable printer and it's GREAT! it's tiny and allows us to have pics printed right away and we delete as we print! we also love to do this when we stay at POP Century and we put the pics on our window!!!

When we got married there last year and stayed at POFQ we printed out a bunch of wedding pics and had the signs from our limo and car in the window and during LOCKDOWN throughout hurricane francis it made for a good conversation topic as many people gathered round to ask questions!
