Hi Girls,

Really depressing post here but does anyone know if it is possible to downgrade from a wishes wedding to an escape wedding?

We originally had 28 guests and in the space of the last 3 weeks have gone down to 16 !!!
2 of which were flower girls and I have 2 £110 dresses bought and paid for !!!

The problem is that If I can change down to an escape, I don't know anything about them - how much is the minimum spend for them??

Any info appreciated

Well there really aren't minimums. You pay $4500 and you get the ceremony, cake and champagne, DPS photography, a bouquet, a boutonniere...and that's basically it. You don't get a reception. I think it would probably really difficult for you to change at this point.

Another Disbride who is from England had a fabulous Wishes wedding and she had a really small party, like only 8 people I think. Is it finances that makes you want to switch, or just because you have less people?

First of all, I'm sorry you are stressing about this...as if there isn't enough to stress about 4 months before your wedding!

Can you still meet all your minimum requirements for a Wishes wedding (including room block and expenses)? Talk to your coordinator about reducing the room block requirement if you can.

If you can still meet your minimums, I wouldn't change to an Escape. If you did, you'd have to give up the reception (or almost start planning all over again - it can be done, but do you want to?).

Have you made any deposits to outside vendors? If you switch, will you still be able to use them or will you lose the deposit?

I really think you should talk to your coordinator as soon as you can. There is still time to plan for an Escape (it can be done in 90 days or less)...but it will really change things. And if you can still meet your minimums, I wouldn't change a thing!!

Thanks for your support.

To be honest I hadn't realised the difference between escape and wishes. I just felt that we would be spending a heck of a lot of money for only 18 of us!! When I think about not being able to use outside vendors and such it makes me want to cry as I have spent alot of time choosing these.

We havn't had our BEO back yet from our planning session, so I guess that will be the decider.

Another thing that is concerning me is the size of LSS. With 30 of us it was fine, with only 18 of us I think it will look silly.

Lee and I have just been looking at other reception venues and wondered if the summerhouse patio had an indoors? It is beautiful (we saw it on our November trip) but for a 2.30pm wedding I think being outside for a reception about 3.30pm would be far to hot.

Any other reception venues we could look at?

Thanks

Aww Linz, I'm really sorry to hear that so many people have dropped out. We've had 2 drop so far, and expecting another 2/3. When we were only at 11 in total thats half!

If it is a numbers problem I would keep it to Wishes if you can as you may find the Escape limiting compared to what you have planned. If it is a budget problem then the Escape would give you more options with things like meals.

I would say talk to your co-ordinator and see what problems you would face if you did change down to an Escape.

Keep us posted and let us know how you get on :grouphug:

You wouldn't ecessarily have to lose your vendors if your ceremony or reception were not in a theme park...it would only be a possibility if you needed to use Disney to meet your minimums for the Wishes. You can still use outside vendors for Escape weddings - just not for anything in a theme park.

As for the spaces, again, definitely talk to your coordinator! I know there are venues for smaller groups (maybe the Attic at the Boardwalk would work for you!) but I don't know the specifics of them.

I wouldn't be concerned with "looking silly" in a space that seems too big...it's your wedding and you have planned it, no one will think it's silly!

I'm the English bride who only had a small group and a wishes wedding. We had 10 guests so there was 12 of us in total.

Orangetiggs had 18 I think.

We wanted a wishes wedding as we wanted the reception. I think our total to Disney was about $16,000 off of the top of my head. But we had quite a few things we could have taken out to cut the cost down.

We had our reception in the GF whitehall room and the room didn't feel to big at all.

yes i had 18 and a wishes wedding at the whitehall room. we looked at downgrading ours but you dont get a proper reception like we would here so we decided to spend the extra and it was well worth it. our guests loved it
