I have 2 cabins booked in concierge, paid in full. My son is transferring a reservation to our sailing date, but can’t swing the concierge price. Is it possible to downgrade one of the concierge cabins I have booked so we can have a cabin near his? We’re 34 days out.

I would not worry about it too much. You can enjoy the areas of the ship together. He could even come and hang out in your room. Just would not be able to use concierge lounge, and other perks. You could try to get him a room on the same deck, close to the concierge area.

I’ve downgraded my room after PIF date and got a full refund for the whole difference in cost BUT it wasn’t a concierge room I downgraded from.

Thanks for the positivity! We got him one deck below, which he said was even better….closer to the ice cream 🙂

Concierge payments usually can't be refunded, only transferred to another booking. Disney may be able to move the funds if you have a future cruise picked out already, but I don't think there's any way to get the money back.

Sort of. Concierge deposits are non-refundable, even if you change a Concierge reservation to a regular one, the deposit remains non-refundable. Any other monies paid would be subject to refund schedule for any given cruise. In OPs case 34 days out there's no refund. Unless DCL opts to refund any overages by the room change.

The way I'm reading the Terms and Conditions, at 34 days out, 50% of the Concierge fare would be refunded if the cruise were cancelled: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/contracts-terms-safety/terms-conditions/united-states/

What I can't tell from these Terms is whether moving to a non-Concierge room on the same sailing would count as a cancellation. The OP no longer needs this information, but for others with a similar question, the way to get a definitive answer is to call DCL.

I believe any room changes are now considered "cancellations". And the new room cost is based on prevailing prices. It could be possible that the lower category room might even cost more now, than the Concierge room cost when they they made the original reservation.
