If you are at Walt Disney World in the next few days, you may notice some very "special" princes, princesses and their families taking over the place! There is a Down syndrome conference Today thru Sunday. A bunch of my friends from my local Down syndrome group are there now and I wish we could have joined them (my son is 13). But, we already had plans to be there in August.

I know that they will have an awesome time. There is no other place to vacation that you truly feel that your child is accepted. I really feel like am vacationing and not just taking care of him while I'm there. :)

We aren't at the Conference but my DD who is 23 has Down Syndrome. Disney World and Disneyland are her favorite things. Whenever she meets someone new her first question is "Have you ever been to Disneyland or Disney World?" followed by "What is your favorite ride?" She is a walking Disney advertisement, she has asked these questions since she had Leukemia when she was 10 and started asking all the Doctors and Nurses that helped her. She loves going to either Disney World or Disneyland (she grew up about a mile away from Disneyland) and she is always treated like a "Princess" when we are there!

Wow, I have 2 sons with Down syndrome and I've never heard of this weekend thing at Disney. I sure wish I had! Thankfully we're going in 33 short days, but I do wonder who put the trip together for people with Down syndrome. I do wonder if it was a local Florida Down syndrome Association???
