Before our trip started this week I had heard a lot about down rides in the park and it's still happening. Thunder Mountain was down right after we rode it, and we had long stops on the people mover and just got to sit through a couple of scenes on CoP. Our FP for Splash was switched to an anytime FP when Splash went down a couple of our ago and is still down. Of course Pirates is closed. Making for interesting touring in a really crowded park. At least the sun is shining

There seem to be real issues with BTMRR and Splash recently, they both seem to be down very regularly

We were in MK last Monday and the only ride we had a problem with was HM, believe it or not. We waited for it for almost an hour, then were escorted out and given an anytime FP, which we decided to stalk HM and went back a few hours later just as soon as it went back up and it was a walk on with the FP.

We were in th MK last Wednesday and our only issue was SM but it was back up in time to ride. This park is just so busy!! There were long waits for everything. Luckily we were able to split our party up and get extra FPs

We had a lot of issues with rides being down two weeks ago. SDMT down for several hours, BTMRR down all day, Splash only running the last two hours, Space down at one point, Pooh down twice. Sat through the same scene during CoP four times in a row. I just emailed guest services about it yesterday. If you're going to charge $127 for a one day ticket, the attractions should be functioning.

Splash was down yesterday morning, too. We had FP that started at 10:00, and at 9:58 I got an email changing it to an anytime FP. I kept checking MDE and first noticed Splash working again a little before noon. We went to ride it around 1:30 but the FP line was all the way out of the ride and up the hill. We came back and rode it later after the FP line had gotten shorter.

A friend just got back from 3 park days at wdw - first time ever at any Disney parks (she was in town for a conference, took her 4 yo). She said that rides were down in MK on fri and sat, with sat being the worst. Combine that with horribly long lines, and she said she never wants to go to MK again. They never got to ride Splash, HM, 7DMT,... despite having FP+ for them (rides went down, FP+ lines later were very long). They had a better time at HS on Sunday, but never got on ToT (had FP+ for RNRC and ToT, both of which went down, but she did manage to get on RNRC later).

She said if they decide to do wdw again during her conf next year, it’ll be HS, AK, and EPCOT - the down rides and long lines at MK put a sour taste in her mouth.

It’s sad that things are bad enough that they turn off people from ever visiting again.

Pooh was down several times in Nov. What’s going on?

We had 3 FPs today: Space went down mid-ride, after waiting awhile we were walked off. Splash closed just before our time slot. Returned to Spash, it went down again as we were loading. Big Thunder shut down. MK was a zoo; wait times were insane —not at all fun.

I have no idea! I've been to WDW many times over the years, and I've never experienced anything like it. Luckily we had used our SDMT fastpass right before it went down, and were able to get on Pooh in the evening after the fireworks. Not riding Splash was disappointing, my son finally went on it last trip for the first time and loved it, and had been looking forward to riding it again this time.

It seems to be the norm that AT LEAST one of the four mountains has seen some downtown everyday

For us it always seemed to be space mountain, one 7 day trip we tried to ride it 3 different days and it was closed each day we tried.

In another, recent thread, someone speculated that Disney has gotten rid of their night repair crews -- the guys who fix problems on a ride during downtime. IF true, that would explain this epidemic of ride breakdowns, and it would be a pretty shameful way for Disney to scrounge a few bucks at the expense of the guest experience (and clearly having a big impact on guests). I'm not saying it's true, mind you, but it would explain a lot, wouldn't it?

I'd love to know as well. The apologists want to blame it on guest error. Which I don't buy. Guest error shuts a ride down for a short time - not for hours day after day.

My guess is they're just not able to keep up on the upgrades/maintenance that such old rides require. Or like others have speculated, they've cut back the night crew.

Oh my reading all these reports of down rides. We normally go at the end of March each year but are taking the year off to travel else where. It looks like a good decision I hope they get these maintenance problems cleared up before next year and that it does not become a trend.

Reading these posts increases my blood pressure! My family is heading to MK this Saturday, which I am sure will be crazy busy, and we have fast passes for the rides that seem to be "down" a lot. We are only going for one expensive day...I hope it is better than the above experiences!

Splash was down for most of Sunday morning, and many other mornings also. This is becoming sadly predictable.

But, with predictability comes opportunity. It may be a wise strategy to get a FP for Splash in the mornings, so when Splash inevitably goes down, it will convert into an "any ride" Fastpass for any time throughout the day.
