HI all,

DW and I spent an absolutely magical ten days at OKW last October for our tenth wedding anniversary. Things didn't exactly go as planned--we loved our villa so much we ended up spending a significant amount of time in it--but I couldn't have had a better vacation. We contemplated joining DVC, attended the seminar, and after some consultation realized our money tree in the backyard was not taking root, darned thing. But we resolved to come back at least once more to catch some of the things we missed.
That was nearly a year ago.
I've spent quite a bit of time on this board, since. It's brought some of the Disney back. Not enough, alas.
I'd thought DW had put Disney out of her head, but it turns out otherwise. She's been thinking about the World at least as much as I have. And we're planning to come back in early 2013.
That's so far away! What's more, our vacations have a way of being scuttled before they begin, thanks to that pesky thing called life. So I'm right in the middle of a prolonged stretch of non-Disnified, boring reality. *sigh*
How do you folks cope? I hate to sound melodramatic, but we're both feeling kind of bereft.

How do you folks cope? I endlessly search for flight deals for as far off in time as possible. I booked my March 10, 2012 flight 330 days in advance. Then slowly build the cheapest vacation possible ...

Lol. Just dreaming about the next vacation!

Dude I haven't been to DW in 16 years! I've made it so far! :rotfl2:

I get by by (A) looking at the various picture threads in the Disney Resorts area....(B) read the planning and trip threads .... (C) and reviewing the old Disney Planning DVD.

And.....of course, fusing about things like to do the DP or not on our next trip!:scared1:

I cope by planning my next vacation. Right now planning for November of 2012. :) Always planning always searching. Makes me feel great.

DVC does need a money tree in the back yard. After staying at OKW you can't go back to even a moderate room. That is where they get you. lol

Have you considered buying DVC through resale? Its allot more affordable than direct from Disney. ;)

I seriously feel your pain. If I dont have a Disney trip in the pipeline I really feel quite sad. I thing I had found which helps in terms of $$ is establishing a transfer from my 'payday' account into a special vacation account. Your bank can set this up and the $$ (whatever amount you want) can be tsf'd automatically on payday to your vacation acct. I also dont put that vacation acct on any debit card etc. so I really cannot get to it easily (yes, I have control issues lol). As for planning a trip, I am assuming you rented points for OKW? That is really a great way to go. Also, keeping an eye out for discounts at other resorts - we stayed POR and really enjoyed it, even after staying Deluxe. Its the thrill of a new resort, and the theming! Also, flying from the USA if that is possible is a really great $ saver. And finally, if you dont collect Air Miles, then START!! It is seriously a great way to gain points, and pretty easy once you get the hang of it, and you can use for Disney tickets, which are such a large cost of the trip! They can also be used for flights if going to the US is not an option. Like I said, I feel your pain and know how hard it is to resist the pull of such a great vacation once you get the bug! :grouphug:
