We will be leaving from Chattanooga going straight down I-75
What are some good places to stop to rest, eat, see etc?

I know we want some boiled peanuts. We are also wanting to see a state park or two along the way to excercise our legs! Also what are the best truck stops?

Thanks?

We usually stop in Valdosta, GA. They have a pretty big truck stop/gas station there. We stop and stretch our legs to continue on with the trip. We are coming from a little further north than you will be. We usually stop around where you are to stretch our legs as well. I don't know of any state parks along the way. I guess we are in too much of a hurry to get there.
We have stopped in Lake City, FL. too. It isn't much further than Valdosta.

The before my family and I would get to Florida we would spend the night in Valdosta, Georgia because we would not want to arrive around 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM. So this way we can arrive the next day in the early afternoon and since we take 2 & 1/2 days to drive down we would be starting from Cleveland, Tennessee which is where we spent the previous night.

One of the Ga state parks we stopped at was the War Veterans Memorial state park. We actually pulled in late one night, didn't even unhook the camper, just climbed in back and slept. When we got up in the am we were surprised to see all the planes and tanks. There are probably 10-15 plans and tanks from different wars. You are able to walk up-to and around but not in the equipment. The gift shop/museum was closed that early in the am so I can't tell you what was in there. Keep in mind its approx 15 miles off the interstate so that will add time to your trip. Have fun.

We stopped in Perry, GA for the night on our last trip.
We always stop at Adcock Pecans in Tifton, GA for peanuts and pecans.
There is also Etowah Indian Mounds Park outside Carterville, GA. There are only a few of these burial mounds uncovered around the world. One is here in Illinois(Cahokia Mounds).

As an Atlanta native, I do that drive to Orlando every month. Here's a list of good stops and what is there:

Valdosta - Plenty of good places to eat and it's the last cheap gas before Florida. Best cheap gas is at the RaceWay exit 18

Jackson (exit 201) has every truck stop chain there is plus multiple fast food restaurants attached to them.

Locust Grove (exit 212) has the big Tanger Outlet and a decent amount of eateries.

Exit 198 has High Falls State Park a mile or two to the east. It has a good sized lake and cascading waterfalls with walking trails.

Cordele (exit 101) has the Georgia Veterans State Park. The park has an outdoor display of military vehicles and aircraft along with an indoor museum. It has a frisbee golf course.

Just about any decent sized exit along central or south GA should have boiled peanuts at the gas stations.

We get on I-75 at Exit 62 in Tifton, it is a really nice exit with alot of places to get food, there is also a Walmart, and I think that is the exit with the Adcock Pecans.

We love to stop at the Welcome Center at the FL state line, it is really nice any time of the day or night, but we love to stop during the day to get fresh OJ and Disney Brochures and times guides.

The only place we won't stop in FL is the Gainesville Rest stop, because of the warning about poisonous snakes :scared1:

Check out Buckners - just off exit 201. This is a great family style restaurant. It's all you can eat, and they bring it all to your table. Very reasonably priced and great food. Also, my husband has allergies and they happily accomodated him. :worship:
