These are US versions of UK chocolate that have been around for a long time. My Mum used to get me the mini eggs and truffle eggs when I was little. Galaxy is the UK Dove equivent. Galaxy is owned by the Mars group, it's the chocolate rival to Cadburys. I can't quite get into US chocolate (they ingredients are slightly different as US chocolate has something in it to both preserve and stop it melting so quickly, which to my taste really makes a difference, I guess it depends on what you are used to) If the truffle eggs are half as good as the UK versions they would be worth looking out for. My Mum is under strict instructions to bring over mini-eggs when she visits next week. My all american DS6 will eat chocoate from either side of the atlantic, I guess you don't get too picky about candy when you are six!!

A friend of mine is originally from Finland, born and raised.

After a recent visit she brought back some name brand chocolate bars with her (I can't remember the brand, could've been Cadbury.) They tasted so much better than the ones sold here, yet the ingredients seemed the same, or very similar.

I have pondered on this for many moons... the US puts what seems to be wax of some kind I assume to preserve it.

When we'd go to Canada I use to bring cases of chocolate home. I'd take orders from family, friends and work.

A coworker went to Canada and bought 2 identical candy bars. One was 1/2 price. He said they knocked the price down as it was about to expire. LOL I can bet that doesn't happen in the US!
