doubting restaurant choice

We are making our first trip to WDW in May and have reservations for DS 6th birthday breakfast and dinner while we are there. We are doing CM for breakfast and then Garden Grill for dinner. I am doubting the Garden Grill reservation because you don't hear that much about it. I am ok with going somewhere that doesn't have the best food in WDW, but I want the "birthday experience" for him to be special and thought he might get that with the characters. Our itinerary was for MK that morning and Epcot that night. Any suggestions/reassurance? :confused3

Thanks for your input!

I think you hear little about Garden Grill because no one seems to complain about it. ;)

Everything I've ever read about the place has been positive, and it's the only meal left with Chip & Dale, I think.

The Garden Grill is pretty good..have you thought about maybe doing a character meal, like chef mickeys, or something for dinner? I think you can stick with what you have. I have always enjoyed garden grill.

We are doing Chef Mickey's for breakfast that morning. I am correct in thinking that Garden Grill is a character meal?

It's been a few years but we really enjoyed GG when we ate there, the food was served family style and was all fantastic, the restaurant itself which rotates through the scenes of Living With The Land is cool in itself as well.

I hear great things about GG. You will enjoy CM brekfast!

Have fun!

The way I see it - people tend to much more vocal about the negatives than they are about the positives. For me, character meals are about going to see the characters and having that interaction. If someone said, "Hey Bee! If you slip me a $20 I can get you to the front of the line to see Mickey" I'd sure be tempted!

That's what character meals are for me... a way to see the characters without needed to wait in a line. And you can eat while doing it. I don't expect fine dining from these restaurants, just something to eat.

I say go for it! Enjoy the characters, enjoy eating in a different place, and the food will probably be just fine!

I think you have made a great choice picking Garden Grill. We did it in December and my boys are 8 and 6. They LOVED it!:cool1:

The characters were really fantastic. Loads of interaction and Chip and Dale were so so funny!:lmao: They came round at least 3 times to see us.:lovestruc

We really enjoyed it and its now our favourite character meal.:thumbsup2

your choice seems good to me! There are for sure some GG haters, but my family and I love it, and the character interaction is great!

Thank you all for your feedback! I feel better about it. I just really want this to be a special trip and day for the birthday boy!

We ate at the GG 2 years ago and the food was OK. The characters were great!! That was one of my son's favorite dinners.

We haven't eaten there for dinner, but breakfast was great! The food and character interaction were top notch! I think you made a good choice. :thumbsup2

If it helps, I have heard a few people prefer it to other character meals since it's served family style and you don't have to get up to get your food. That way you're sitting down, always there for photo ops and it's less chaotic.
