I took a gamble and did a bid on priceline for 3 1/2 stars and up - and got the Doubletree ($50 a night 7/19-7/24). (I was hoping and expecting either the Hyatt or Crowne Plaza, just b/c that was the trend for awhile what everyone was getting). Anyway, this is what we got and I am just curious what anyone's opinion is on it. I think it has a shuttle, don't know how often it runs or anything. Opinions? Tips?

We stayed here in April 2004(we got in on Hotwire for $35 a nite) it was a great Hotel...we did room service one morning but wow avoid that if you can while the food was excellent it was way expensive!!!
The rooms are great, comfortable beds plenty of room. The only eason we wouldn't stay again is that it is so far away they did have thier own dedicated shuttle that was wonderful which we had the drivers card and was able to just call them when we needed them..(my son using a wheelchair and it was nice to be able to have that option at any time) but for just a few more dollars than what you got on priceline I got the Howard Johnson on Harbor for our stay this August, I think you will be happy with it and if you have an upper floor room facing the DL side you will be able to watch the fireworks from your room! One night while we were there we saw 3 different firework shows, DL's, one at Angel's Stadium after a game and one more wasn't sure where that one was but it was a wonderful suprise!!!
Have a great trip!!!
By the way where in MO are you I have relatives in Poplar Bluff and St. Louis!!! My grandparents were born in a small area known as House's Creek not sure if it is even there anymore?!

Stayed there twice and we had a great experience both times. The rooms are large and spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. Our room even had a view of the parks (albeit a far one). It isn't as close as some of the other hotels, but there is a very convenient shuttle. The biggest drawback for me were the parking and internet fees, but with priceline you save a lot. The block at orange which is closeby also has really great shopping and dining.

Awesome - I am feeling much better about it. I wish it was a little closer, but we are used to having to be shuttled to the parks. When we are at WDW our resorts are probably further away than this will be and we ride the buses. I know it won't be the quite the same thing but I think we wil be okay with it. ;)
