We were originally staying at the Holiday Inn Family Suites for our August stay, but recently saw a great deal on the Doubletree Guest Suites so I booked there also. This will save us a good amount of money to maybe add a couple of special events (character meals, Fantasmic dinner package). We will be traveling with varying ages (me, DH, DDs - 3 and 7, my mother, sister and my two nieces - 7 and 11). It would be better to plan some rest time for the little one and my mom in with all of the rest of us (thus the Fantasmic Dinner Package instead of waiting in the line). Can anyone give me any information on the Doubletree in Downtown Disney? Right now I have one king suite and one double double suite reserved. We also get Continental Breakfast but can upgrade to a full breakfast for $4 per person. Any comments on the continental breakfast, pool, rooms, etc, would be greatly appreciated. We stayed at HIFS in June 2002 and thought it was really cool, but my family is also cool on saving some money to do a few more things at the parks.

We have stayed at the DT DD a few times, most recently last year. We may stay there again this weekend. The breakfast is actually much better than what HIFS offers, but it was buffet, not continental. The buffet was quite extensive and appetizing. The pool looked nice and we did go one time, but had to leave right away due to a thunderstorm (chairs and umbrellas were blowing all over the place). The pool area at HIFS is better for kids though, more fun.

The rooms did look like they are in need of renovation, IMO. The rooms are quite spacious for families. If someone wants to rest or take a nap, you can close the large folding doors for privacy. There is a good size table and chairs in the dining area which also includes a sink, small fridge, microwave and storage cabinets. We would definitely stay here again.

Hope that helps!:sunny:
