Had a great stay at the Doubletree Castle! :cloud9:
If you want a place with quiet rooms, great theming, near Universal-for around $100 a night- this is a great option!

:wizard: The castle theming was really cute. The kids enjoyed being princes and princesses.
The pool wasn't huge, but we had it all to ourselves, and the kids really liked the fountain in the middle. Plus, it was nice to eat breakfast out by the pool.

Breakfast includes coffee and tea (or just coffe and tea for free). They have a short menu with some big, more expensive breakfasts, but if you ask, the less inclusive breakfast options are very reasonably priced. The service was quick, and they make your eggs right in front of you (I'm picky about how I like my eggs, and they were perfect, a BIG plus!) We had planned on going elsewhere for breakfast, but it was so reasonable and so easy and so pleasant - we ate at the hotel instead. I love Orlando, but sometimes the crowds make me feel smothered - so it was great to be able to start the day out on a peaceful note.

A last little feature that I liked was they had classical music throughout the hotel. Even in your room, you had private controls to play music or not. Even though the rooms were quiet, it was nice to be able to put the music on very softly to fall asleep.

The only minor downside I can see, is that the hotel doesn't have a brand new feel to it. It was pretty well maintained though, and very clean.

Is this the same as the Pineapple colored hotel right near the entrance to DTD?

The pineapple hotel is another Doubletree.

I stayed at the Doubletree castle last trip and was pleasantly surprised. I liked the location on International Drive and the rooms were nice for the price. They also offered free shuttles to the major parks.

I second staying at the Doubletree Castle. We always spend one night offsite before checking into WDW bright and early. That night is spent at the Doubletree castle. It has become a family tradition. Those warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in are to die for as well.

we always used to stay at the doubletree castle for all the same reasons!!! By the time I left I was totally hooked to the song Camelot!! I also loved the one station in the room that at some point would play birds singing as I woke up one am and was trying to figure out how the birds got int the room!

the only reason we stopped staying at the Castle as we increased our vacations to WDW form one week to 2 Weeks and moved down the road a piece to the Holiday inn that is behind the "dead" Mercardo! this too is just as nice as the Castle

At night did you go up to the roof of the Castle and watch the HIgh fireworks from WDW?? I would do that everynight also during the day if you go up there you can also see the TOT at mgm, Cinderella's Castle, Contemporary hotel and forget what from Epcot I think it was Spaceship eArth!
