Double Wide Stroller Should Be Banned

We have 4 kiddos...age 9, 8, 2, 1. Warning to all who will be in WDW next Dec...we WILL be renting a double stroller for the little kids...a side by side one at that...GASP! We will be going in stores, but will use our judgement as to whether or not to take the stroller in. We will park the stroller in the designated areas. We will fold up our stroller before entering a bus/boat.

I promise not to run you over with my stroller...if you promise not to run me over while texting/talking on your phone

Hi we'll be there next Dec for our first Christmas visit too! You are the only other person whose ticker I have seen that will be there the same time. So don't worry we'll have the place to ourselves . But if it does get a little busy I'll let you use the "holding pens" I posted about a few pages back!!!

I think that you should contact Disney (wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com) with your idea of banning us from stores, but graciously allowing us to use our stroller in outdoor areas of the parks. I'm betting that Disney will see it your way - they don't actually want the full $2500 or so that my family of seven will end up spending on incidentals, souveniers, and such during our eleven nights at WDW.

Sure, if we keep the stroller outside - which means that we'll have to load/unload the kids on every gift shop, which means that we'll just not go in them all - it will cut down on our spending, but I'm willing to bet that Disney is happy to forfeit our money - and money from other families with young children - so that we don't possibly inconvenience you.

I think your sarcasm is showing. Plenty of people pay that much or more; many for shorter vacations/fewer people.
Not saying don't use your double stroller, but do remember you're not in the store alone. There's really no reason the typical teen can't share 'stroller duty' with a sibling, and realistically, two umbrella strollers are easier overall to handle than one double-wide or double-long stroller - maneuvering, folding... the only thing you probably can't do with umbrella strollers that you can with the larger ones is use them as pack animals.

Like most issues like this, often the problem is the inconsiderate actions of a few that have gone on to bother many.

Today I was at a local park where I couldn't get into the washroom due to a family with one of those big plastic wagons. The wagon was in the door way to the washroom while mom was outside and the kids were using the facilities. While holding my baby trying to get around her she obliviously stood there not moving the wagon until I asked. She then moved it just enough that I could then awkwardly step over it.

Some folks are just like that. Oblivious to those around them. Self absorbed. Inconsiderate. It burns me, but that's just the way it is.

I'm sure most people with double wide strollers realize they have a giant obstacle and maneuver it in such a way as to not block, ram or hinder others. Others, not so much.

The best you can do is politely ask them to move if they are blocking your way.

No way am I reading this entire thread...way too upsetting. I don't use a double wide stroller, but I would never ask for them to banned. How about we just ban all the people who want such and such banned? Sure I'd love it if certain things or people weren't allowed in the park, but you know what I do if something at a park is upsetting to me but is otherwise allowed? I remove myself from the situation! Wow, the world doesn't actually revolve around me and my family!

We don't use a stroller and we feel sorry for those that do as they aren't the easiest to manuever in large crowds. My DW will go out of the way to let them through and tell them that she understands what it's like to have to deal with a stroller in a crowd.

I am sure that some are rude and abusive with them, but we didn't experience during our 10-night trip this summer. And we were in some very heavy crowds. Perhaps it's because we aren't as sensitive to them as some are.

I think a bit of patience on both sides is warranted. Put yourselves in their shoes. JMHO

Regardless of how anyone feels about double strollers, it is not possible to substitute 2 umbrellas for a double. That would assume that everyone were together every moment. What am I supposed to do when my husband is riding everest with all my big kids and I have the 2 little kids alone? Sometimes me and the 2 small ones will leave the park for a nap while the big kids and hubby stay. I would not be able to push 2 umbrella strollers out alone. Even though I have older kids to help there are plenty of situations where that wouldn't work. And what if u don't have teens at all, maybe just two young children, there are still times where a husband and wife might separate and the one left with the kids shouldn't be in a situation where they can't move both of them at once. Several people have suggested 2 umbrellas instead of 1 double but this just isn't possible in most cases

I understand everyone's side and opinion. That said, I have a 5yo & a 2 yr. We bought our double wide stroller about a year and a half ago specifically for disney. It was one of our best disney decisions. We are respectful in the park, but will never do disney without it until the kids outgrow the thing.

Yes I am aware that its Yankee country, I just hoped that there might be somewhere that I didn't know about that had some. We don't hardly ever leave property at all in an entire 10 or 11 day stay and that is a long time to go without decent tea

Have you ever tried those Lipton Cold Brew tea bags? It is possible to make fairly decent sweet tea in your hotel room using those.

No I haven't. Thanks for that, we may give those a try next time. I know it probably sounds silly to most but we really do miss our tea while we are there we aren't big soda drinkers and the lemonade in many of the restaurants has artificial sweetener which we also don't drink. We are pretty much left with bottled juice, powerade and water.

It really annoys me when posters with no children tell parents what they should be doing and dictate to them what is possible in terms of vacationing with children.
