Okay after reading a recent thread on strollers I'm starting to think I may need a double. I have a 13 mos. old son and a 6 year old daughter. I really don't think my daughter is going to make it walking. I've been researching doubles today and I don't know which is best......front and back or side by side. I also saw a nifty travel seat that attatches to any stroller. I could try that, but 6 yr. old could not fal asleep in that. I want something fairly light and copmact and that will push easily. I wish my dd could just walk, but I really think by mid-day she'll beat, especially in the hot Florida sun (we're going in August). Please help!!!

Why not just rent one?? That way you do not have to drag it with you and the stollers at WDW are fine. Also, you don't always have to use one, like at MGM where the park is walkable for a small child, you could just use a single then. The strollers are also easy for kids to get in and out of, which helps. If you still plan to purchase one, I like the side by side strollers better. I feel like they are easier to push around, especially with one child being a lot less weight than the other. Also, there is more leg room for the bigger child, and if you find one without (or detachable) front bar your six year old will fit even better. (I think Graco has a detachable front bar) While in the mall last week, I noticed a lightweight double Combi stroller. I have always loved the light-weight single Combi stroller, maybe the double would be great too. Hope this helps!!

I agree! Rent one! We have three kids and we rented a double stroller last trip. It was great. Always seemed like there were 2 that wanted to ride and one that wanted to walk. We had somewhere to store our 6 litres of bottled water and when the kids were tired they could ride. We didn't have to lug ours from the hotel to the parks and we were able to "transfer" our stroller when we went from AK to Epcot. Was the best investment at the parks each day! We plan on doing the same on our next trip.

The only thing that I would do differently is take a cotton blanket or quilt as the seats aren't soft so that the kids bums don't get so tired and if the smallest one falls asleep, they have something they can curl up on. There is a canopy on the strollers which is great for the hot weather you are going to be experiencing.

Have you thought about carrying your 13 mo in a sling? Or at least taking one with you? I loved slinging my kids through WDW. I bet if they started selling them they could make a fortune at the park! LOL!! They are great for when you have to stand in lines that don't let you take the strollers through most of the way (MK and Epcot especially) as your arms can get tired when you are standing in line for 45 mintues holding a toddler. Keeps them close at hand and secure for some of the more bumpy rides.

I'm in the bring your own stroller camp. I can't imagine a 13 mo old ever being comfortable in one of the rented strollers. I feel so bad for some kids when I see them late in the evening hanging halfway out of a hard theme park rented stroller. They are asleep - but it can't be comfortable. That is when we have always been glad that our DD was sleeping soundly in her own comfy stroller.

On our Nov trip we will have two kids for the first time. DD will be 3 and DS will be 5 mos. We are bringing our own double stroller. We debated and looked at strollers and ended up with the Peg Perego Tender Twin front/back. There was a great sale on Comfortliving.com 6 mos ago.

We chose this stroller as it had the most room of all the front/backs. Many of the front/backs have a front seat that I don't think an older child could be comfortable in for very long. Our dd is tall like me and she has plenty of room in the front seat. The back seat lays flat and is perfect for an infant or young child. This stroller is a little heavy but folds very easily. We bought this stroller for general use and not just for WDW. Even though it is heavy, being the width of a regular stroller should make it easy to get around. The double wide umbrella strollers may be lighter, but many don't recline, and I don't think they would fit on the monorail without folding.

I don't think you will be disappointed if you bring your own. It is great for getting around outside the parks, is much more comfortable for your kids, and saves you $7 a day.

I also agree that your own stroller is best. You can use it at the airport and then check it at the gate. You can use it to and from the parks. Your children will be more comfortable in your own stroller than the rented ones. The lines for renting are sometimes very long.

We brought a double side-by-side umbrella stroller for our 4 and 14 month old DD's this past December and are bringing it again this December when they are 5 and 26 months old. We chose this kind because we wanted it to be as light as possible and the front/back ones were more expensive and also they seemed heavier and bulkier.

The hardest part about having your own stroller, especially if it's big and bulky, is packing it in/on to a bus/monorail/car but it's still worth it!:D

I think the rental strollers are great for older kids, and as mentioned above they're very easy for children to hop in and out of. My 4yo was just fine in one on our last trip, and although it's fairly expensive to rent a stroller every day, we found it a lot more convenient than lugging one everywhere with us. Please note that the strollers do not recline.

However, with a 13 month old, I would want my own stroller from home that would recline. Would you consider renting one for your 6yo as needed, and bringing one from home for the baby? It sounds like you don't really need another double stroller at this point, except for Disney touring, so perhaps that might be easier. Just another option!

Well I just found the perfect double stroller for me.

I already have the front to back stroller but my girls are 3 and 4. And the one I have they just out grew.
And I really didn't want to buy a new full size stroller just for disney this year.

The brand name is Avolon and it is a side by side umbrella with two baskets underneath and mine does recline. And the best part about it that it only cost $59.00. I purchased it at the Baby Depot which is located in the Berlington Coat Factory.

I did test it out and the mall and it does maneuver pretty well. Yes I did find it alittle more difficult getting through some aisles, but not too bad.

And my girls like it because it is easy for them to climb in and out of and they are sitting next to each other.

Wow, that is a GREAT price and it reclines too? I've got a double umbrella stroller with a big basket and a canopy but no recline and I paid $55.
