Double Stroller Rental Question

We have a 2 year old and a 5.5 month old during our next trip next month . I thought that a double stroller would work great for them but now I am having doubts as the youngest may be too small for it.

I rented a double stroller from Apple Scooter a while ago thinking maybe DD would be large enough by the time our trip came around although I am pretty sure that she won't be large enough for the regular stroller. Apple Scooter does not rent car seat adapters for their strollers. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks!

Never mind - found a company, Kingdom Strollers that has the adapters. I also found a thread that convinced me that maybe DD would be more comfortable NOT in the car seat. Ahhhh. Now confused.

I am firmly in the no car seat club. Your little one should be fine in a double city mini. We used the britax equivalent at home from the time my youngest was maybe 2mos? It worked great!

I see benefits to both.... Having the car seat would give a sleeping baby a spot to sleep if you wanted eat without waking him/her up. However a 5.5 month old could be getting cramped in the car seat & prefer more room. I would be tempted to rent the adaptor & play it by "ear"...

A 5.5 month old will fit just fine in a stroller. In fact, I've gone to WDW with a 5 month old in a City Mini Double. He'd been riding in it at home for a few months already. It reclines almost completely flat and is perfectly fine for a baby. Mine started in it around 6 weeks, but my kids are giants, so some of them might be a bit too tiny at that age, but 5 months should be fine.

A car seat in a stroller, on the other hand, is just not a good idea at WDW. It doesn't allow the baby to move around, and it's simply too hot about 48 weeks out of the year in Florida. The position that babies are in when they're in a car seat is stressful to their bodies, so they shouldn't spend much extra time in car seats.

I'd do a City Mini double and an Ergo or other similar baby carrier for when the baby doesn't want to be in the stroller. Holding a baby throughout all of the lines is a lot of work for the parents if you don't have a carrier to help.

If you look at a lot of information out there, you will see that car seats should only be used in the car. They increase the risk of hypoxia and contribute to flat head syndrome.

At 5 months your LO will be fine in a regular stroller. Take a baby carrier of some kind (Ergo, Tula, BabyHawk, ring sling, wrap - whatever works for you) - a good one can be used for both of your kids.

We went last October with 6 month old and 2.5 year old and rented the double city mini. I would strongly suggest you not get a car seat. It will be too hard to carry the car set, stroller and worry about both kids getting on/off the buses. We struggled just having the stroller and both kids, i couldn't imagine throwing something else in the mix.

The baby will be fine in a mini at that age.

What we ended up doing is buying a double via Craig's List prior to the trip for less than what the rental cost would be. Best investment ever! Arden, our 6 month old, is ok in the infant seat. Just have to make sure she is positioned ok but so happy she's not in the car seat! Thanks again everyone. Still enjoying the trip! ;)

The city mini double is great. I have the gt and my now 8mo has been in it since birth. I tried the carseat adaptor but found it cumbersome and unnecessary since the stroller has a full recline. We brought it with us for our trip in nov when db was 7mo and I was so glad to have it.
