We're leaving for WDW next thurs. and I'm debating whether or not to venture out to find a rain cover for our double stroller; we have a graco duoglider. I've looked at the weather reports and it looks like showers while we're there. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the cover would be a good idea? and if so, where can I get one? Also, has anyone ever tried to use 2 single stroller rain covers for their double stroller? I already have one single rain cover, and it looks like the singles are much more readily available than the doubles.

I forgot to say that any babies r us should have them

I was able to get one on sale at Babies r us (I think for $15) but I will be honest we never wound up using it, and still haven't. We go twice a year once in March and then again in Oct. and have the same stroller as you. It seemed like too much of a hassle to get it on in time.

We used our raincover three times in October; twice for light rain and once for a downpour.

But I bought one ultimately based on our experience in 2002 (pre-kids for us). On our MGM day of that trip, it very suddenly DOWNPOURED for about 1.5 hours straight. I kept seeing parents trying to keep their kids dry and it looked awful. Then, the next morning at the bus stop, there were some people by us with a big double stroller with the real cushioned seats and their kids were already crying and unhappy. The seats of the stroller were so wet from the rainfall the day before, that the poor kids little butts were soaked before even leaving the resort the next day. I cant imagine how much fun that day was for them. They were trying to get the kids to sit on some rain ponchos instead of the seats.

I figured it was a50/50 chance of us needing it, but I did not want a wet and musty stroller if it did happen to rain.

IDK about two single covers, try it out with the one you have and see how it looks? The only thing I could see as apotential problem would be right behind the front seat, where the back seats footrest is, would have a gap of coverage between the two raincovers. So I would think any runoff rain would end up dumping off the covers into that area, which depending on your stroller, likely leads right into the basket? So you might get a real wet basket.

get a good rain cover and put it on when ever you leave the stroller, even if its sunny. (keeps bird poo off too) You never know when the rain will come. Even a short shower can get things really wet! Its also a good idea to spray your diaper bag/camera bag/backpack with some kind of water resistance spray.

Take an extra pair of tennis shoes...and what ever you do....don't try to dry out your tennis shoes with a hair dryer!

I've learned these lessons the hard way.

Hi! :wave2: I forgot to mention before that the 1st time I ever used a stroller cover was March and I was out walking with a friend when she suggested we borrow hers. We did just on a wim just in case and it saved the trip. DD did not like it at 1st. She would scream and yell. We had to let her get a little wet and then put it on the stroller and she was happy as a clam then. At home if it rans you just don't go out. That doesn't happen at WDW.

We went to WDW last March and my friends came how had the same double stroller as you. They used a poncho on the older child 4 years old, and a poncho over the baby (but he was in the car seat part of it.) It worked ok for them (and it did really pour rain one day.) Another thing you can do is just bring a new shower curtian with you (around $2) and some clips. It will do in case, but won't be as good. The rain covers have vents in them so it is more comfortable.

I think it is much like brining a umbrella, you might not need it, but if you do you don't want to be with out. Better safe then sorry. If you ever think you will go to WDW again with this stroller it will come in handy again. The thing is they don't sell them in the park (they should). I have heard of people having their rain covers stollen before!

I debated buying one last month for my 4 days trip, but I was so happy I did because it rained every day wo I got my money's worth from it. I did see tandem covers at BRU, but of course I needed to find a side by side. I ended up orderint one from Onestepahead and having it shipped to my resort a few days before.

Just got one today at BRU--$23, hopefully money well spent! We'll see, we leave in just over a day!!! :cool1:

Buy one and have it overnighted to you if at all possible....it will be worth its weight in GOLD!!!!

We got our double stroller cover from one step ahead and I wouldn't think of ever going to WDW without it!

Have fun!

Jennifer. :flower:

Definately get one, we used ours last May (although it was only a single, we will have a double this year  ) and our son actually had a blast hitting it with his Nemo light spinner while we walked around DTD in the rain. I second the idea to cover your stroller when you leave it too, as we didn't and came out of Playhouse Disney to a soaked stroller on a beautiful day!

Really I hope it was a total waste of money and the it never rains for 1 second of your trip. Have a great time! :goodvibes

i don't know if you'll be out at night but we went w/ young ones to parks past 7 p.m. & it got cold & windy around the same dates last jan. i found the covers to not only protect the children from rain but also to protect them very well from cold winds. they were so warm underneath those covers.

also, like people have said, cover your strollers when you go into the rides as a shower can pass at any time. that also happened to us last jan. the showers can be very brief but soak your strollers.

i have a graco duoglider but prefer to use 2 singles w/ the 2 separate covers. i can't imagine 2 single covers on the duoglider - definitely get the double cover to fit it properly.

have fun...i'll be there next week too & hope to never have to use the covers!

Well, we just got back last night, and we were saved with our rain cover yesterday at Epcot. It would happen that our last day it decided to pour--good thing it was our last day. But b/c of all the great advice, our rain cover kept the kids and our stuff nice and dry! :cheer2:

So glad I found this thread! We're planning a trip for April 08 and will be bringing a double stroller. I was trying to sort out what to do.

I'm just getting ready to buy a new one. Looking at DuoGliders, that is what we wanted originally.

I used a clear shower curtain just laid it over the top an down the sides of stroller still plenty of breathing room and it worked really well unless it really got windy.
