Double Stroller Question

Does anyone know if a double, side-by-side stroller will fit onto the monorail? We're hoping to stay at either the CR or Poly, and take advantage of not having to fold down our stroller on the monorail (although I know we'll have to do that for AK and MGM).

It's not an extra large double stroller...standard size. I'm just hoping that it will fit onto the monorail, as the cars seem to be split in half.

Any input would be appreciated!!

Thanks!!!

We used our dbl jogger in Jan when we went and it did not fit onto the monorail in the regular cars- but it did fit in the accessible cars. When we approached the platform, we asked the CM if we could take the stroller onto the accessible car (provided no one in a wheelchair was waiting to enter). There were other families doing the same thing. The only other place we encountered problems with that stroller was trying to exit thru the turnstiles at MK. The gates were wide enough for us to enter ok with it, but we always had to fold it to leave. We have the Safetech dbl jogger w/pivoting front wheel which is one of the narrower dbl joggers, but I think next time we may take a twin umbrella type stroller instead...

If the monorail is crowded, you will have to remove your kids and fold up the stroller.

Just be patient for a handicapped accessible car on the monorail and you can then roll right on without unfolding the stroller. We used a Chicco Velocita side-by-side double (GREAT Stroller!) and had no problems at all...Just don't forget that wheelchairs take precedence over strollers though! Enjoy! :flower:

We just returned from a trip staying at POR. I have to admit that the few times we took the monorail (from MK to Grand Floridian), we found it no more convenient than the buses. The cars were packed, and we ended up having to fold our strollers (tandem double and single umbrella) each time (twice).

On the buses, dh had to LIFT the folded double stroller over the seats b/c it would not fit down the center aisle, and the bus drivers would NOT allow him to take it on through the back doors. So, if there were empty seats right up front, he had to lift it practically over peoples' heads. The other riders did NOT seem happy about it, and I can't really blame them. Your side by side double may fold thinner, though, and you might be able to walk it down the aisle sideways.

Also, there was a time at AK, and I'm sorry I can't remember where, that the path was divided by pole. I even remarked to dh that a side by side would not have fit through (in fact, our singles barely fit through!).

IMHO, the best option for strollers is to stay at CR if you visiting MK a lot, or a boardwalk hotel if you are doing MGM and/or Epcot a lot.

Have a great trip!

Betty
