Double Stroller or not?

Hello -

Long time lurker, first time poster. Heading to Orlando next week and have a question for all you experts. We have a 5 year old and a 21 month old and originally was planning on bringing our own stroller that has a standing board attachment. Our youngest still needs a nap and so using a stroller that can recline will be necessary. Our 5 year old most likely will walk and want to explore everything, but when he gets tired he can stand and be pushed around. While listening to some Disney podcasts, I found out about some stroller rental places and for 7 days, it's quite reasonable.

So my question for you guys: is a double stroller a pain to fold and carry on/off buses? Is it a pain to maneuver around the crowds of people and inside gift shops? (One major pro would be not having to bring our own stroller on/off airplane.)

Thanks in advance for the replies!

Any stroller is kind of a pain on the buses, but I've gone with single, sit-n-stand and a double citi mini and none were worse than the others. With the ages of your kiddos, I'd probably rent a double citi mini. I had a 6 year old and a not quite 2 month old in it and it steered just fine, no problems with it, folded up easily and fit through all doorways.

We have twice rented a Citi Mini Double from Orlando Stroller rental. While it isn't *easy* on the buses, I wouldn't say that it was terrible either. The fold is really easy, its just carrying in on to the bus which is a pain. It also steers quite easily and there are multitudes of them in Disney so pathways are kind of build for this width.

I agree the bus is not the easiest, but I will take that inconvenience to not have a tired crabby preschooler!

Not the easiest on the bus, but a definite must. We found a Jeep double umbrella that reclined for naps but was way easier to fold and carry on the bus than our big double.

I recommend the double. We had our 16 month old, 5 year old and 8 year old when we went. And even the 8 year old needed some time to sit, which I never expected! We rented the city mini gt. Very easy to fold, but really any stroller on the bus is a pain to me.

Thanks all for the responses. After much internal discussions, we decided to just bring our stroller with the standing board and if we find after a day or two that our oldest needs to sit more, we will just rent a double for the remaining of the trip. Of all the "hidden" costs for a Disney World trip, renting a stroller for 3-5 days isn't horrible, all things considered. (We'll spend more trying the secret nacho challenge at MK.)
