We're heading to disney in late September & I'm trying to decide if it's better to invest in a double stroller to bring with us or rent one in the parks. We'll have a regular stroller for our 4 month old, so I'd like to have just 1 stroller for the twins (about 45# each). I know macclarens are pretty good, but I'm not sure if they have a decent double stroller (that's not too pricey). Any thoughts?

Thank you!

the double strollers in the parks look rather uncomfortable and seem rather clumsy.. not a lot of room to store bags, drinks, etc.. I would probably suggest investing in a nice one for yourself, that way it may make it easier to navigate through the parks.. only downside to that is having to carry it on any disney transportation...:woohoo:

We have a double stroller that we used last year with our then 18 mo old and our 3.5 yr old. It's an Avalon Side by Side and worked really well -- easy to manuever etc.

Well, we pulled it out for this year's trip (kids now 2.5 and 4.5). With both kids in it (nothing else, mind you... no diaper bags, souvenirs, lunches, etc) it was quite heavy to push! So much so that we decided to just bring our Mac Triumph. The girls took turns riding in it or walking. My 4.5 yr old was great and walked tons (and this was in July!).

If I were you, I would probably just rent a stroller at the parks. Either that or get a Mac Volo that the twins can share when they need a break.

We have almost 5 yo twins, about 45 lbs also. You will have a hard time finding a reasonably priced double stroller that will bear their weight and push easily. We broke down and ended up buying a Baby Jogger jogging stroller. We love it, but it was expensive. We travel to Orlando twice a year and it's invaluable for the storage it provides and being able to move the kids from point A to point B quickly! Of course they are old enough to walk, but they tend to dawdle, and it drives me crazy! When they are too old for it (in a few years) we'll just sell it on ebay.

The park rental double strollers are easy to push and most people who have posted about them don't consider them to be clumsy.
People post that they don't think they look comfortable, but I have never seen a child in them who looked uncomfortable and you can always see kids sleeping in them, so they can't be that uncomfortable.

My 2 oldest are 4 and 6, and we also have a 6 month old. On our most recent trip in May, we rented a stroller for the two oldest kids for the first time (usually we bring our own Peg Aria double stroller along). It was fantastic! The strollers are not uncomfortable for the kids (unless your child needs to nap in them, in which case, bring your own, for sure), there's plenty of room even for tall kids, they're easy to push, and the storage is fine.

The best part is being able to turn them in at the end of the day and not have to haul them on and off the buses and store them in your room. Particularly if you have a 3rd child and have to take a stroller for the baby, you don't want to be hauling around 2 of your own strollers for the entire trip.

We did it this way because my husband forgot to load the double stroller in the car, but it worked out so well, we will never bring it again.

Actually, many of the kids I've seen napping in them looked pretty comfy. Many were laying partway on their sides, curled up a bit. It's a bit hard to imagine, but many of the kids kind of curl up so that their head and upper chest is on the raised seat part of the stroller and their curled up legs are in the foot area. Here's a picture of the Epcot single stroller from allearsnet.com that might help.

Many of the kids I've seen sleeping in regular reclined strollers looked more uncomfortable because they were trying to turn and the stroller wasn't wide enough for them to do it (especially if the child is on the verge of too big for the stroller). So, if you have a bigger child, one who likes to sleep on their side or is not used to sleeping in a stroller, that's a good thing to keep in mind.
