Double stroller dilemma

I found a Combi side by side double stroller at a consignment sale and I love it! My kids will be 6 and almost 4 on our next trip, so they will walk a lot, but there are times they will both need to be able to sit down. This stroller folds smaller than my single stroller and is lighter weight. It retails for around $300, but I paid only $75 and it is gently used, so it was a great deal to me. We went to the mall this morning and both kids fit just fine. I like that they each can recline seperately and there is a basket under each seat.

I have the Jeep Double stroller and I am also 5'9" and DH is 6'2" and it's not a problem for us.

Just subscribing...I am also in the double stroller dilemma. We will have DD5 and DS1 and I cannot decide what to do. I don't want to spend a fortune on a double Maclaren b/c this is the only time it will be used. We already have a Maclaren Quest that we love. We bought it two years ago and it worked great, except for the constant tipping over when DD got out and there was stuff hanging on the back. Last year we bought a double stroller at Walmart (pic in avatar) and I loved it! HOWEVER, two nights before we left, we lost a tire somewhere in the Magic Kingdom!

It made it for the rest of the trip, but not such a smooth ride. DH thinks we should just get another of those, but I'm worried of it falling apart again. We did return the other one, thankfully! I loved having both kids in the same stroller, especially on crazy park-closing mass exits! DD will be around 60 lbs. though, and that removes us from most of the listed weight limits except for Maclarens. The other option I'm considering is looking for a used Maclaren Volo on Ebay for DD and let DS ride in the Quest.

Anyone have kids 60 lbs. plus riding in a non-bank-breaking double stroller along with a smaller child? I'd love to know! Off to check the weight limit on the Jeep double the OP recommended...

I love my jeep double stroller.....been to disney twice with it......big enough for my almost 4 year old.....HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We lucked into the deal of a lifetime on a brand new Phil & Ted's with the doubles seat (the '07 one, with recline). SOOO loving it - big enough for our 4yo (main seat holds up to 55lbs), the LO (1yo) loves the rear seat (goes up to 33lbs), it's a dream to push/steer, and it has the footprint of a single stroller.

We'll also be taking our Beco Baby Carrier (similar to the Ergo), but this way we have an option for both of them to ride/nap at the same time!

We just got back from a trip with DS 4 (almost 5) and DD2. DS is REALLY tall for his age (Dad's 6' 7" so he's going to be a big kid)

We bought a Combi double stroller - here's the picture:

This worked GREAT!!!!!! It folds up and has a carry strap on the back so it was super easy to take on the buses. It's got 2 baskets underneath that held everything we needed.

DS didn't have a problem fitting in. As you can see he's a little tight but he never complained about it.

I researched a TON of strollers before buying this one. Good luck!

We bring 2 strollers. It's easier in the crowds. DH and I each take one. I should mention, that DD4 will be in an umbrella stroller and DD2 in a "better" Jeep stroller. They umbrella stroller isn't a problem on a bus ever. I can hold DD2 and that stroller if necessary. We've also rented a stroller from Disney. We don't rent primarily because they don't recline and we just don't want to waist the $ anymore. DD4 ONLY rides in a stroller at Disney and we are only using it to prevent whining from walking...an umbrella stroller works for that.

What made you pick the Combi over a Mac? My DD5 is 47lbs and very tall and people are telling me the Mac Twin Traveller would be too tight. I'd love to get your thoughts! Thanks! :flower3:

Honestly - price. We went to Toys R Us back in January to try some out - our trip was in May and I knew that we needed a new double stroller. I wanted something that was good quality but I really didn't want to invest a fortune on it. Well, Toys R Us had all of their floor models from the previous year 50% off. We tried out just about every double stroller in the store and ended up buying the 2006 model Combi. I was looking at ease of turning, that was my biggest complaint with the double stroller we already had. This one turns on a dime - even with 75 lbs of children in it. And at 1/2 price it was a steal. Even though it was a floor model it looked like it had just come out of the box.
