My dds are 2 and 5 (6 in Sept.). We're visting WDW first week of August. We'll need strollers for both due to the heat. My oldest dd weighs 45 lbs so what double stroller do we get? I've heard great things about the Maclarens but would my oldest fit? I really do not want to rent. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!princess:

I suggest see the other post from today regarding the Buggy Board. Worked great for Disney with my kids at the same age, because the older one will want to walk and be in and out a lot most likely.

I have a single & double maclaren, both have been to Dinsy, and both will be back in September. My kids will be 1, 2 & 3.5 in Septemeber. My 3.5 is small & weighs only 33 lbs right now. he tells me he feels "tight" in the double Mac. It's a narrow stroller. I don't think it's the one you would want for a 5 year old. Would your 5 year old sleep in it? If not, how about a sit & stand? Your 5 year old can either sit on a bench type seat or stand behind the front seat!

I am having the same issue. I also have 2 ( 2 and 5) and my 5 year old is really lazy! I am thinking of renting a double jogging stroller from A Baby's Best Friend. We rented a double from the park last year and they are hot and uncomfortable. I look forward to reading other people's advice too. Good luck!

We have two also 3 1/2 and 1 year. We used our double Mac last year and it was ok, I agree it is a tight stroller. We just got the Joovy sit and stand. I saw a few people with the sit and stand on our last trip to WDW. I was so envyous!! So due to the recomondation on DIS we too went with the new ultra lght Joovy. So far so good I got it last week and we have yet to take it for a spin at the mall. WDW come Dec!!! Good luck. I personly have reservations about renting the strollers in the parks, seems like a big germ fest and my DS's would get annoyed with each other being right on top of one another. They may work for alot of people but I am not risking our sanity!!! We also bring our ergo baby carrier. Our three year old rides in it too. It works as a soft backpack carrier. It was by far my favorite recomandation on DIS just order it direct from the company, I had issues with Parentnaturaly.com. Our oldest is 45 lbs and him being on my back was no issue.

I think my 5 year old might sleep in it so I'm leary of the sit and stands but they do look great. I think the double Macs would be too tight for her. I wanted to bring our double jogger but we're staying onsight w/o a car and a double jogger won't fit on the buses. My other thought was a double umbrella but I'm afraid they're too small too. I don't want to rent as I was to have a stroller from bus to resort and bus to park. Thanks for the advice everyone!!!!:upsidedow

So glad to see others with the same questions I have. :thumbsup2 We are going in Sept when DD's will be 5, almost 3 and 15months. All of mine love to ride in a stroller, so I was trying to decide if I should bring 2 strollers! I am big on having my own stoller and stuff, and I have to take it all the way back to the room. Anyway, I gave away my cheap double evenflo because it was almost bottoming out in the airport this May. :rolleyes1 I was looking into lots of options and my sister-in-law saved me. She gave my her jogging stoller, an InStep Safari TT. I totally had not considered this at all! I thought it was too big and who was going jogging??? :confused3 NOT ME! BUT my DH and I have been using it this week and LOVE it. (Can you say this about a stroller?) It is TOTALLY our Disney stoller. It rides smooth and pushes so easily. Each side reclines separatly and has a see though sun shade. (great for 15 month old morning nap) :woohoo: BUT I have saved the best for last, they all three fit on it!!!! :yay: and it is still easy to push! The front wheel cover basically acts as an extra seat for either the 2.5 or 5 yr old; they love to switch. (I know, I know they are not buckled in, but she is 5, ) We won't have a car either. We will gate check the stroller, so no problem in the airport. We are staying at the CR, walk to MK and monorail to Epcot. So, I am totally willing to pack it onto ME and the bus to AK and MGM. I know that it is not a small or light stroller but most of the time the stoller is open and so pushing and riding is the most important quality to me. We will just fold it for the bus and DH, my sherpa, will take care of it. :cloud9: Anyway, can you tell I am so excited about my find? I just had to share my stoller quandry and solution with others on the DIS, since no one else gets my planning obsession! Now we can have 1 stoller, :woohoo: , and three princesses :dance3: Perfect, IMO! Thanks for letting me ramble. Hope this helps someone, Marriedmyprince

I so want to take our jogger. It has tons of storage, cup holders, great sunshade and is so easy to push (I'm tall so most strollers are uncomfortable). My DH is willing to be my sherpa too :lmao: but people on this board have warned me to not even attempt to bring it on the bus. We're staying at Pop Century and I've been told the buses get crazy crowded. I'm very bummed b/c it's a fantastic stroller. You'll love using yours. Enjoy your trip!pirate:

mom2luncate,
I totally understand, I am a bit nervous too. The busses were not crowded when we used them Sept of 05, plenty of room for the stoller, but we didn't stay at Pop. We usually go early in the morning and don't stay for the mass exodus at park closing. If the busses are totally stressful with the jogging stoller, I am lucky to have a backup plan. My in-laws are meeting us and staying at ASM with a small suv. It is too crowed for all of us but some of us could use it (with the stroller) in a pinch. Good luck with your stoller, Marriedmyprince

If you are buying strickly for the trip and don't plan on using it too much more, except for a return trip to WDW ;) I would recommend the Jeep double stroller. I bought that for my last trip for my then 6 and 3 yo. It worked out great. My older DD was probably about 50lbs at the time, and it worked great for her. If folds compactly like an umbrella. The only thing it didn't have was a basket on the bottom, but otherwise, it was great and it cost somewhere around $50. I traveled alone with my girls and was able to handle the stroller and 1 sleeping kid too.

I was seriously considering this stroller. :goodvibes Glad to hear it worked well for your kids. Thanks so much for the info!!!! ;)

I second the jeep double stroller. It's side by side, lightweight, they can sleep, ventilated back. Our ds4 and ds2 use it for trips to mall, zoo, etc. Watch for TRU or BRU coupons and sales. I paid $69 for mine.

We went last Nov. w/ 2 kids, just turned 2 & 5, and we took our sit-n-stand. It worked great. DS5 could get on & off w/o our help, and DS2 was strapped in nicely! We still had room to store a backpack underneath, or hang it over the handle. It folds up fairly easy for getting on/off the bus- but usually DH takes care of that. We will defin. be bringing it back with us this Sept.

I would go with a Maclaren, deeper seats, tall back, raincover, reclining seats, lightweight, double storage, much better shade than the jeep, tall handles and best of all, a dream to push even with the weight of 2 kids.

If it is possible for you, try them both and then decide.

i have the sit and stand plus - all the benefits of a regular sit and stand and also has a back proper seat that can be removed real easy if they want to nap in the back and not just sit and stand. The seat is easy to store in the basket below too...and easy to install back in. Love it...

I highly recommend the Jeep double stroller. It's survived trips to WDW, San Francisco and Cancun  It's a whole other story why we got conned into taking 15 month old twins to cancun...

Our last trip to Disney (October 06) was with a double, a Maclaren Twin Traveller. Kids were almost 3 (35 pounds) and almost 6 (52 pounds) at the time - what a great stroller! My kids are pretty big & tall and they fit fine - no complaints from them. I would recommend this stroller without reservation.

I personally can't stand the Jeep side by side. It doesn't steer all that great and I continually kick the middle set of wheels (this might be a height/leg stride issue). I would definitely strap both kids in and give it a through run around the store. I think you will get a better deal out of a Sit-n-Stand with your older DC being 5. We have out own issues with having 2 3.5yos and 1 1.5yo (so 3 under 4), and we only have a double stroller. We love our Graco Duoglider which DD did ride in once when she was 5 (she rode in the front seat), but that made it pretty hard to push.

Are you tall...is that why you kick the stroller? I'm 5'9" and my husband is 6' so I'm wondering if it would be a problem.:headache: Better take a test drive. Thanks for the advice.:cheer2:

We used a maclaren twin rally on our trip last August. My youngest 2 boys were almost 2 and almost 5. The stroller worked great. We did purchase a ray shade to give them a little more shade and it really helped. My older 2 boys (9 & 10 yo) would also sit in it once in a while so it really holds the weight well. Check out ebay for a slightly used one, you may get a good deal. I got ours for about 150.00 and it was hardly used. The previous owner used it once for a week in disney and it was in great shape still.
