Double Stroller at Toys R Us...

We have DD3 & DS4 and are heading to WDW for 10 nights!!! I already own the big double stroller and also a single and a single umbrella stroller but was looking for a new double umbreall stroller to get to bring with us to Disney. My specifications were:
* Larger wheels than standard umbrella stroller
* Recline option
* sun protection
* Easy to manuever

I ran into Toys R Us and found the perfect stroller for us to use. It is the JEEP twin all weather umbrella stroller. Retail is $79.99 and right now they are offering $10.00 of any stroller over $40.00 so that brought it to $70.00 - I had some GC as well so only paid about $40.00 for it OOP but I was completely willing to pay the $80.00. We got home it took literally 5 minutes to put it together - no tools necessary and had both kids jump in to see how it worked. Even on rough dirt/grass terrain it was not a struggle to push them around in it. It reclines and has a sun shield for both of them. Came with a cup holder for mom/dad and a small bag to put items in as well. The only thing it didn't have was underneath storage but not that big of a deal for us. It is also really easy to fold up and quite compact.

So if anyone is looking for a great travel stroller check out this one. We take trips into Boston on the train so we will be getting our $$$ worth out of this one!

Sounds like you got a great stroller. I just bought the Combi Twin Savvy off of ebay recently, and although I like it better than my monster Graco Duoglide, it has seemed to be kind of hard to maneuver and turn.

because I realized that the weight limit was only 35 pounds per side. My DD3 was almost that weight when i bought it, so I figured I wouldn't get a lot of use out of it. I really like the movable canopies, the way it steered, and the price. I would have missed a basket, but there are ways to deal with that.

I ended up buying Maclaren Twin Traveller (so much more $$$ ), but it has a 55 pound weight limit per side, so I'm hoping I'll be able to use it with DD3 and DD2 for many more years.

I briefly considered the Jeep double umbrella stroller and decided it wasn't for us. The main reason was the weight. I found it to be very heavy for its size. But the 35lb limit per side would have put us out of the running for this one too.

We already have a single Maclaren so we just got a Kolcraft umbrella stroller too. We'll just use both strollers. As our older stroller child is 5, we probably won't need to bring both of them every time.

We also considered the Jeep SBS, but like "camouseketeer", wanted a SBS stroller with a higher weight limit so we could get more use out of it. We also wanted a SBS that was at least 30" or less in width. I read somewhere that the American Disablities Act requires most public doorways/hallways to be at least 30" in width to accomodate wheelchairs, so we looked for a SBS in that width (or less) to make it easier for us to maneuver through public places. I believe the Jeep might be a tad a bit wider but I'm not positive. Just another thing to keep in mind when looking for SBS strollers.

We also ended up with the Maclaren Twin Traveller and have no regrets, but boy, one certainly can't beat the price of the Jeep, that's for sure! What a deal!

We used the Jeep SBS on our August trip. Steering was great, canopies are a bit skimpy IMHO but we had one BIG problem. Four days into our 11 day trip one of the rubber footrests broke. Any time you pull the stroller back (i.e. out of a 'parking' spot) the wheels would be in the front, when you pushed forward they would rotate to the back but if either of our kids had their feet resting on the footrest it would rub. What we didn't realize until it was too late was that the wheel was wearing away the rubber and one morning snap no more footrest. The other footrest was severed in half by the end of the trip. Our kids would practically knock each other over trying to get there first so they wouldn't have to hold up their feet without the footrest. The footrest is just attached too low in the leg and it interferes with the rotation of the wheels.

We did run into another family with exactly the same stroller and exactly the same problem. Actually ran into them a couple of times and joked with each other each time.

If your kids are little you probably won't have any problem but be sure to bring something to help you identify the stroller as we saw a lot of the Jeep single and double strollers.

I had the Kolcraft SBS, which almost exactly like the Jeep. I think it's a great stroller when you aren't going to use it all the time. It is cheep, and it's easy enough to steer. The ones that are around $300 are easier, but that's a lot of money if you aren't going to be using the stroller several times a week for the next few years. I think you'll be really happy with it.

I use a double bike trailer. I have a Burley D'lite with a stroller hitch. The hitch sticks out but I had cut part of it off, drilled a new hole, and moved the wheel closer to the trailer. I was tripping over the long hitch and WDW has banned bike trailers with the long hitch. There is another brand Trek with the wheels under the base. But I got my Burley for free and rigged it myself.

I can still use my Burley with a bike. I just purchased another hitch.

I researched for 2 mos for a double umbrella stroller for my boys (4 and 6 yrs, 36/42 lbs) to use at amusement parks, Disney, our D.C. vacation. I've never written a review but wanted to save others some time and felt that strongly for the 2006 Maclaren Techno Twin to write.

Our Graco Duoglider is just too heavy and big to use anymore-great stroller, though. I "test drove" a Peg Aria & Combi Twin Savy at BRUS - they may be OK for infants and toddlers but I found them wobbly and not well made(plastic piece on the Aria came off when I tried to remove the tray) and at the upper weight limit - the Combi was impossible to turn w/o the stroller twisting, almost like the combi was missing a support bar between the back two sets of wheels (see above poster who returned her's) - short lifespan for me.

I had narrowed down to the Inglesina Twin Swift & Maclaren Twin Techno based on reviews and higher weight limits per seat. I finally got my hands on both at Right Start. I'm not a stroller snob so brand doesn't matter to me at all.

What sold me on the Maclaren was the smooth push, one handed steer/turns with 78 total lbs in it, a sturdy frame and a solid seatback to the top - Twin Swift's seat back is not a firm form and at the top of the seat back my 6 yr old's head(he's 44" tall), was not supported well. BTW, both Swift and Techno seat backs are 18" tall.

The Mac Twin Techno pushed like a dream like the other reviewers had said. What sold me FINALLY on it (I was resisting the $ of it) was the sales rep pointed out that the canopy height is adjustable along the stroller frame which added another year's worth of use for me. I came home and bought one that night online on Ebay - they've been selling anywhere from $265 to $310 and are $359 retail. I recommend buying from StrollerStore. Ordered it Mon night and it arrived at my door Wed at 10am!!! It comes fully assembled except for canopies which are a breeze to add. I'm one happy mom and plan to sell it in a couple years as Maclaren's have great resale value. I looked at used but Maclaren increased their weight limit per seat with the 2005's, I think, and there are none used for sale, that I could find. I know why, now.

I must have read at least 150 reviews including all the ones on this forum and they helped narrow down my search. Get your hands on them if you can to make your own decisions. Everyone's got an opinion, I found, but it helped me narrow my search to the right stroller. Fee free to ask me any questions. Good luck in your stroller search!

Wow - Momto2Boys, thanks so much for your post. This was THE post I needed to read. I have been pouring through posts, checking out double strollers online and in stores, and trying to determine what stroller would be best for our needs for weeks. We are doing WDW in Sept. with our 2 1/2 year old and our 14 month, and have been torn about what stroller to bring. We'll be flying, so we also have to consider that we're travelling with 2 carseats and of course all of the luggage, diaper bags, etc.

We decided that we need to get a new double for the trip - the monster Duoglider (which I hate - wish I never would have bought it) would NOT be a good choice for us. I want something smaller, easy to handle, compact/light, able to hold bigger children so we aren't wasting money, and price is always a consideration (mostly because this will be our 5th stroller! ridiculous.) I have been looking at the Mac Twin Swift, but am once again torn after reading your comments. Do you really feel like the Traveller is so much more worth it to justify the price?? I found a Swift on sale online for ~$190 - very enticing...

What on earth am I going to obsess over once I purchase this stroller?? Outifts? Shoes? Sunscreen? Backpacks? The options are virtually endless really.

I am looking for a good lightweight double stroller to take my two youngest (2yrs and 3 months) walking in this fall after the older two kids go back to school. I was looking at joggers but do you think this will work too?

I have a big double we use when we are out and about but it is so heavy I would probably strain my back hitting our neighborhood trails!!!

Oops! I meant that I was looking at the Mac Rally Twin, not the Twin Swift. I looked at the Twin Swift (let's face it, I've looked at practically every double known to man), but it's the Rally Twin I've zeroed in on. There's a 2005 Rally Twin on sale at albeebaby.....anyone have comments on the Rally???
