I am planning on bringing a double stroller for my two DDs. I just can't decide which one. I currently have an Peg Aria Twin which is a side by side. I really love it b/c it is so light and has recline, canopy, and a basket. Only problem is that it won't umbrella fold. It folds in half from top to bottom so getting it on and off the buses will be a huge pain. We will have a car so we will not be relying solely on bus trans, but we will still use them some of the time.

My other option is to buy/borrow a cheap double umbrella (like a Kolcraft) that has a recline, basket, etc. These will likely be less comfy in terms of seat padding and more difficult to steer (plus an additional expense b/c I don't own one). But should be much easier to carry around.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi :)

We went last year and brought a cheap Kolcraft side-by-side. It was really easy to navigate throughout the world and you seldom actually collapse it. Most of the time there is "stroller parking" and you just leave the stroller up and assembled - ready to go. So, for that reason, I'd take the Perego - because it would be far more comfortable.

Also, if memory serves, we left the kids IN the stroller, buckled in on the monorail. And when we took the trams and things there was enough time waiting for the transport to arrive to collapse the stroller and get all situated :)

I would recommend the smaller stoller we just came back last week and our full size double stoller took a beating. Also keep
in mind if you are renting a car and have a couple of suitcases it
can be difficult to fit every thing into the car. Our stroller
took up almost the whole trunk, and that was in a Lincoln town car.

I just bought the Peg Pergo side by side one you have to take to WDW. Between that and a tandom one it is much smaller, and lighter too. I antispate not having any problems with it. Our single stroller for WDW is a combi travel savey DX, but I have seen people with much bigger strollers doing just fine on the bus.

Go with comfort, especailly since it isn't that much bigger. It does fold rather flat and small and is light. Comfort is a must at WDW too, those kids live that in stroller.

We have a 3 year old DS and an almost 1 year old DD and will be taking a side by side umbrella stroller for them, we found this one Wrangler Double Stroller at Babies R Us, it's about the price of renting a WDW stroller for a week and the seats are really nice- very cushy. The only thing that it is lacking is a good storage area, but I am taking a back pack and may purchase a mesh stroller storage bag that attaches to the handles.

A few notes about the double umbrella kind. The 3rd whelle in the middle can be a pain. You kick it when you walk. Also they don't have much on the sides, so sleeping kids don't have much to hold them up. We were at the zoo last week with our new Peg Pergo and we were checking out every other stroller. We noticed a double umbrella, and the kid trying to sleep almost fell out of it. I like the bars across the peg that are removable. Good for snacks and a little extra protection holding them in. I don't strap in the 3 year old. She gets in and out too much. Also the seat recline, and then sit back up very easily.

What ever you do, get a rain cover for it.

I would take 2 umbrella strollers. We are going next month and though I would love to have my double jogging stroller w/me---I don't want to chance having it get damaged being gate-checked. My friend did and warned me as hers got damaged. It doesn't mean it will get damaged but I love that stroller and don't want to take a chance. So I'm bringing my combin savy strollers---I got them at a cheap price. They are very compact and portable, which makes things easier. I laugh at all the stuff we have to take w/us to the airport as we will be toting 22 month twins around--car seats/strollers/diaper bags/luggage - :teeth: The good thing is our 2 teen sons are there to help us.

Just FYI - the Kolcraft umbrella side by side reclines independently of each other. So, a toddler can sleep while a baby sits up, or vise versa - no falling out the sides.

However - I still don't necessarily recommend the Kolcraft over a Perego - just no comparing the two, if you already have one ;)

But, for those in a budget pinch or who just want something to make do for one trip to Disney, the Kolcraft was good. (We never kicked the middle wheel either in that one...the handles were high enough...and we used a backpack from www.petuniapicklebottom.com that has the changing pad built in).

But, like I said before, you really don't have to collapse it all that often (except on the trams) and it was plenty time to do so before the tram pulled in and unloaded) :)

I think I'd take the Peg Perego. Last Jan we took a MacLaren side by side with an umbrella fold and that was tough getting on the tram. I think the fold on your Perego would make it easier to get on the tram-its not as thick...

My 20 month old HATES the umbrella stroller so we're bringing our new Peg Perego Pliko P3-she LOVES that one and looks very comfy in it. We'll probably rent a double in the parks most days for the nearly our 4 year old and 5 1/2 year old.
