Double placeholder?

So when we were on our October cruise, we booked two placeholders--one with DH as lead guest and one with me. But unlike in the old days with the paper placeholder form, in the app we did not have to list the names and numbers of the guests, and the two placeholders have different reservation numbers on them. So instead of using this to book 2 rooms on the same sailing--one for me and two kids, one for him and our third kid, could we conceivably book two different cruises for all 5 of us in a room that sleeps 5? I'm confused how it works now with everything going through the app.

If you book 2 placeholders on one cruise, we were told that they must be used for the same cruise.

I think the answer might depend on who you get. We had always heard that too, if you book two placeholders on one cruise they have to be used for the same cruise. In 2019 we paid a total of $1,000 for placeholders: DH and I each booked two rooms on one placeholder form. We could conceivably have booked two separate cruises with two rooms each; the reservation numbers were all different.

Now, on that 2019 sailing, DH and I were in two separate rooms...that could have affected things, I'm not sure.

Right that’s what we were told in the old days too when there was an onboard booking test. But now it is all in the app and just lets you book up to two placeholders, and they just show up as separate reservation numbers with no people named except the lead guest. I can’t tell if it is a change in policy or not.

I guess I could call, but ugh, wait times. Hoping there’s someone here who has tried to use then since it went to the app version and can say for sure. Wanting to book opening day for summer 2023 so would help to figure out what rooms I am going for.

We booked 2 placeholders on an August, 2021 cruise. We were going to book 2 cabins for May, 2022 and take our sons along. They decided they did not want to cruise and wanted to go to Harbor Island, Bahamas instead. So I called to use one of the placeholders for my husband and I on the 8 night in October and cancel the other one. They were really finicky with the whole situation. Evidently when you book 2 in the app, one had no names attached. They ended up cancelling the one with my name attached and were very hesitant to add our names to the placeholder with no names. They did in the end, but they were just finicky about the 2 placeholder booked on one cruise thing. They were the ones who told me both had to be used on the same cruise.

Your experience could always vary depending on the cast member you get.
