Double or 2 single strollers?

Just wanted to add I have taken my double Mac to WDW several times and we love it! This year my older DD will be 5, and I still plan on taking it (my kids are only 2 1/2 years apart in age) and found a double to be a convience for us.

I do like the idea of 2 single Macs with the connectors, BUT, I dont like the idea of folding them to get on the busses and having 2 strollers to deal with instead of one. Typically on the busses (onsite), one of us takes the kids, the other deals with the stroller. Its what works for us the best.

DH and I debated over this for weeks and we finally decided to get two Maclaren Volos. We have these plastic stroller connecters we got for our baby shower (which we have never used) and we are going to connect the strollers together. The nice thing is that if dh wants to take one kid and go on the Haunted Mansion and I can take the other and go on something else. We can disconnect the stroller connecters and have two strollers. But when we are all together dh and I both dont have to worry about pushing a stroller around we can connect them back up.
Just a thought.

Happy planning,
Fran

How awesome is that! I've never heard of that before! I'll have to do a search on stroller connectors! Wow! Thank you!

Well, in my search for stroller connectors I came across a Peg Perego Aria Twin stroller (free shipping, under $200)that weighs under 16 lbs. Anyone ever used this brand? Should I jump on it (the offer, not the stroller:rotfl: )? We would use it around town, at the zoo, in the mall etc. And we plan to have two more close together later. And we'll be going to Disney more than once...I think I'm talking myself into it! My main question would be for anyone with experience with this stroller is how flat does it fold for the trunk of the car. If it helps I drive a Passat.(sedan)

DumboPrincess~I would NOT recomend the Aria Twin. We went to WDW 2 years ago and purchased the Aria Twin for the trip. (We had a 13 month, a 3 year old, a almost 5, and a 6 year old) The stroller worked ok. It is not easy to push if the children weights differ alot. Yes it dose fit through door ways, but you have to have it lined up exactly and push it straigh in. I cant tell you how many times we had to back up the stroller and try to go through the door way again. The basket in the bottom is a waist of space. You cant put more than a blanket or two under there. Other wise it starts to drag on ground.

Dont get me wrong, it got us through Disney and many times we had 1 or 2 sleeping kids in it, but by the end we were wishing we had gone with the Double MacLaren.

This time around we have added another addition and are taking our double jogger and our single MacLaren.

Good Luck in your stroller search!

NO..NO...NO!! That is one I told you that has four sets of wheels and not six. Very hard to push the kids. What the above poster said is so true. I have it sitting in my garage collecting dust. It has a huge hole in the bottom of the basket, the trays broke off and the seats get very difficult to recline. I can't stress enough that it isnt even worth $50.....if you are willing to spend 200, please go with the older model maclaren for the asme price. You will be much happier. Sorry if anyone likes this stroller, b ut that is my experience.

I should add that we've never had an ounce of trouble with a double jogger in Disney. I believe we've been to Disney around 13 times with it in the last 4 or so years. We do not go during peak times, so the crowds are manageable. We do not ride buses a lot either -- we've stayed at mainly the Epcot resorts or the monorail resorts (so we walk, boat, monorail to parks which does not require unloading and folding the jogger. AK is our only bus-park, and we normally only go there one time during our trip). We've never felt the need to try things any other way because how we do them now works very well for us. The kids almost always fall asleep in the jogger at night when we stay at a park late -- in fact, it's something that they look forward to. The reclines are very deep with large canopies and they love to snuggle and fall asleep. It's nice for DH and I to grab a snack at a bakery on the way out of a park and enjoy our walk or monorail back to our resort without having to wake the kids.

Wow! So much great information! Ours are close in age (2yr 4 mos apart) so I don't imagine we'd split up at all. I also like what a lot of people have said in other posts to (I've been following a lot of stroller posts) about strapping them in the stroller so you don't lose them in the crowds and so they don't get overtired! I think I'm leaning towards a double, and thank you for all the great info (esp. about 6 wheels instead of 4, and for telling me what brands you all used.)That will really help to nary it down. If there is anyone with a fabulous, lightweight double stroller that folds flat easily -- please tell me where you got it! I'm off to google some of the ones you guys mentioned! Thanks again!:goodvibes

Fabulous lightweight stroller that folds flat - baby jogger city series mini double. 1 step book fold - very light for a double.- easy push - hold higher weight children - awesome canopies.

The aria twin is not a great stroller for larger children (over 2 years old) or children of different ages/weights.

I think a jogging stroller (single or double) is your best bet for a lengthy trip like Disney. They just GLIDE along!

No matter what you choose...have a fabulous time!

:)

I've been lamenting over the same question now since we decided to go back to Disney. Last time we were there, the kids were 3 and 1. We just rented a double at the parks at that time. The only problem with that was that we didn't have a stroller for when we left the parks or at the resort. A lot of time was spent carrying 2 sleeping girls after a long day at each of the parks.:headache:

Since this was something I did not want to replicate (especially with a now 5 and 3 year old), we decided on purchasing a MacClaren Volo single stroller and renting a single at the parks. I wanted something that was big enough to hold my 5yo (an umbrella stroller just doesn't cut it anymore), but would fold up small enough to take on Disney transportation easily. I went to Babies R Us with DD5 and made her sit in the Volo while I test drove it. I have to say, I was very impressed as was able to wheel her around corners with just one hand, plus I had $20 coupon, so it came to something like $79). Plus it's something I can use at home for the zoo or aquarium.

If I wasn't planning on using Disney transportation, I would have opted to get a double jogger of some sort. None of the ones I saw at the store folded up enough for me to think it would be feasible to take on crowded Disney buses at the end of the day.

Good luck!
