Hi everyone - I had posted a previous question about strollers and everyone was great with their replies and so I decided to just buy a double jogger because I needed one anyway - I got the Schwinn Safari TT (love it)! My question is will it fit on the Monorail and through doors? It seems big, but I am not used to a double...

Thanks!
Kathy

We have used a double jogger for the past two years at WDW (8 trips in all). The only problems we have with it are getting to and into the MK. The monorail attendants will tell you to go in the wheelchair car as long as there is not someone in a wheelchair that needs that car. We have had monorail attendants be very nice about this and very rude; so don't be shocked about that. If you have to take a monorail car other than the wheelchair car, the kids have to come out and my DH fights it into the monorail with it standing on its front wheel. If it is crowded, we always take the boat to the transportation center; just much less of a hassle.

Getting through the ticket line at MK is the other issue. Some of the attendants at the ticket turnstiles will tell you that it will not fit through the wheel chair gates. We have found that the wheelchair gate on the far right side is the largest there is. It is still a tight fit, but can be done without having to take the kids out and lift the entire thing up and over. Sometimes you will get an experienced ticket attendant that will know exactly which wheelchair gate is the largest.

These are the only two issues that we have on our trips.

I don't know what they Schwinn double jogger is like, but I personally would not bring a double jogger to WDW. Mine is just too awkward and wide, even though it only has 16 inch wheels. It is also a pain to fold. There are other Side-by-side strollers that are less bulky.

Someone had posted on here how they loved having their jogger at Disney....I think it was rt2dk??? I know it's big, but we will have our own car most of the time and not do the buses....I was mostly concerned with the monorail.

Thanks for the tip about getting through the gates.

Any other tips??

Thanks

Just got back after a 10 day trip to WDW with my Schwinn double jogger. I loved it there. I am so thankful I took it. It is a bit more awkward than the single I took last time, but overall, much better.

I have a 4yo who is about the average size of a 6 or 7 yo and a 15 month baby who is quite small for his age. Not many strollers will accomadate both. My jogger does. It also turns on a dime and is so convienent in so many ways. It is the world's easiest stroller to push, even with two kids in it and 6 months pregnant. Plus, when we came back at night or were in DTD and both kids were sleeping, there was no better arguement for bringing your own stroller. Many others stated how envious they were of me at that moment.

It could be rolled straight on to the monorail in the handicap cars. The CMs went out of their way to let me on when they saw me, even re-opening a car that had been closed waving me up forward. The ferry wasn't an issue either. We had boat service to other resorts and to MK (stayed at WL) and the jogger pretty much just rolled onto those boats also. Great for not waking sleeping children. A couple of the smaller boats, it did need to be folded. The CM usually grabbed it from me and put it up front and unloaded it for me also--even without anyone else on the boat.

We only took the bus one day (had an early PS/ADR at Donald's breakfast and couldn't drive--won't let you in the parking lot). The bus driver in the morning made me carry it through the front door folded, around people, and I was so scared I'd hit someone. Thankfully I didn't. My DH considered going back alone and getting the car, but we decided to just take the bus back. The bus driver here, saw the stroller, told me to wait by handicap entrance and opened those doors; it was folded, but I probably didn't need to fold it--bus wasn't overly crowded.

When folding the stroller, I found it was pertinent to lock the front wheel vs. leaving it on swivel for an easier push. That was the only trick. The wheel is under the foot stand, so no need to remove it.

Getting into the parks with the stroller was also easy at every park but MK. At MK you needed every centimeter of space available and still had to angle it just right. The other parks no special going in or outs needed and you had room to spare. A little bit of a hassle here, but all the other times that it was so exteremely convienent made it worth it.

Hope this helps. Any other questions, just ask

We're going in July and plan on taking our Dreamer Design Ditto RPS double jogger. Did you fly to Orlando? If so, did you check your Schwinn before you went through security or at your gate? We've taken a single stroller in the past and checked it at our gate, but they made us fold it down and run it through the x-ray. I'm not sure our double jogger is going to fit in the x-ray machine, so we're a little worried about how we're going to get it to and from Orlando.

Fizban--

I answered you in your PM. If you haven't looked at it yet, just check.

I'm with you on this! Also, as a fellow guest, jogger strollers can be downright dangerous. Just during our May trip, I saw saw so many people tripping over the front wheel of these. They just didn't see the stroller coming.

Don't flame me on this, please. I use both a single and a double at home -- but only for what they are intendeded -- exercise.

When we take our double jogging stroller, we usually take the boat to and from the TTC. No worries about fitting the stroller; we just wheel right on.

Ironically, the wheelchair gate we've had the best luck with was the third or fourth from the left! ITA about finding an experienced ticket attendant, regardless of which side your entering from. They'll direct you to the closest, widest gate. Only problem is exiting the park, those wider gates may not be open. The CMs tend to herd everyone through a small number of turnstyles at closing time, and we were once forced to try to go through a too-small gate with too many people behind us to back out once I saw we wouldn't fit. Luckily, two other Dad-types saw my predicament (I was alone with two sleeping, heavy children), and they were able to lift the whole stroller, kids included, over the gate for me. A scary moment, though.

The Safari TT is much more like the rentals in the parks than a true jogging stroller. There is no hand brake and the front wheel is smaller and tucked under and swivels. Its a better around the town stroller than it would be for joggers.

I have a schwinn and I just wanted to say, yes, the front wheel is slightly smaller and is under the foot stand (which extends out, further than many jogging strollers), but it IS a true jogging stroller. I prefer my double Scwinn much more over my single jogger. Your right, there is no hand break (a minus), but the wheel swivels OR locks in place. I take mine out walking, running, or rollerblading all the time & have only used it at Disney as an around the town stroller, since my oldest doesn't use a stroller anywhere else. It is also a lot more comfortable (both seats recline seperately, lots of storage, not plastic & more) than the Disney strollers.

I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining or defensive. Cause I'm really not. I just don't want anyone to ever have the wrong impression.
