double jogger vs 2 single strollers at disneyland

I am wondering if I should take my schwinn turismo double jogger or two single strollers to disneyland. I really want to take the double, just worried it will be difficult with the crowds and such. Also worried about taking it on the plane and DL railroad. Anyone had a good experience taking a double jogger?

I can't speak as a parent about travelling with a jogger but allow me if I may to offer a perspective as a guest trying to walk around.

I may get a lot of anger for this - but I really despise double strollers - especially the wide jogger styles. Now the style that is back to back is not nearly as intrusive but given some areas are not the most easily navigated at high periods of just foot traffic I would perhaps consider two singles.

One specific instance that comes to mind is Fireworks times. Now as it happened my DH and I had some horrible timing coming back into DLR back from a late dinner in DTD. The CM's were working their hardest to have people keep moving between the Plaza Inn area towards the Tomorrowland entrance and people decided to just stop and watch the fireworks even though they were blocking people. I would say I easily tripped over no less than 10 strollers just trying to walk past a 15 foot area.

I am sure that it is much more convenient for typical situations but it can be tricky for not only yourself but those around you.

I know there are plenty of courteous parents who use strollers as intended and don't go out of their way to block anyone but depending on crowds it could be more difficult.

Just something to consider.

Rented a citi mini double at WDW twice. This will be our first trip to DLR, but I think it is similar. I had no issues getting around with the double, getting on buses etc. It was just me and my husband, and we were fine. It was a life and sanity saver for us. I agree with PP, you have to be courteous to other guests because it is wide. But, it made our trip much more manageable. I think you will be great! Have a fun trip!!

Just because something works well at WDW doesn't mean it will work well at DLR. Remember that DL is the original Disney park (built long before everything had to be accessible), so walkways, doorways, aisles, etc. can be narrow and easily blocked -- so tandem strollers work better than doubles here. In DCA, the whole park is relatively new and quite accessible -- walkways, doorways, aisles, etc. are wider and easier to maneuver around/through. Doubles can work at DLR, but they can be challenging in DL, especially during peak crowds.

It is all personal preference. I personally like using two small single strollers. The various double strollers we have used all been a pain (I have purchased many, many strollers). They will fit through doors and isles, and you can navigate through crowds, but I have found it to be far easier to get two single strollers through the same doors and crowds. Jogging strollers do not fold that flat or easily, so going on the bus from the Toy Story lot, riding on the monorail, and riding on the train is not that easy with them. Again, I am not saying it is impossible, I am just stating that a double stroller (particularly a jogging stroller) was harder and more awkward for me to fold up and carry then it was for me to fold up and carry two single strollers.
I also have to mention that after using many different single strollers, the citi micro is my favorite. It looks like the citi mini, but it is smaller and lighter. The folding action is amazing on these baby jogger strollers!

Last summer I went to Disneyland with my two young children (3 and 4), and rented a double stroller from City Strollers (a city mini double). I was travelling with extended family, but knew that I would be on my own with my kids for much of the time. I was a bit concerned about navigating the double stroller around Disneyland, but it ended up being PERFECT for us. So easy to push, perfect fit for my kids, and I never had any trouble navigating around. And I was careful - I didn't ever bump into anybody! It helped to make our trip absolutely amazing.

I'm bringing our valco snap dual. It's a lightweight side by side that is full-featured. We've brought 2 singles several times (we have 4 kids) and it's been OK, but if there is ever an instance that we need to split the littles and the older kids, I can't push 2 strollers by myself so a double is going to have to be it this trip. Also, it was a PAIN to find 2 strollers when one got moved WAAAAAY far away from the other.

I know some people don't like double strollers, some don't even like strollers at all...but you know what? Do what you need to do to have a pleasant trip. It's DISNEY...there are going to be lots of strollers there, just don't run into people on purpose hahaha!

That's a good point about strollers getting moved by CMs. Whether the OP chooses one double stroller or two singles, it couldn't hurt to bring some bright ribbon or something similar to tie onto the stroller/s for easy, quick identification.

At the time of our last trip my DD's were 4 and 6. We rented a double baby jogger stroller from City Strollers. It was great! I can't imagine having two strollers to deal with and keep track of. Disneyland is for everyone, even people that use double strollers. And there are lots of them! Use the double stroller. You won't regret it.

We bring our double Britax (looks almost like the city mini double). We wouldn't make it back to the hotel at night without it. Both kids fall asleep (tip: we change our girls into pjs and brush teeth right before exiting the park) and we only close parks when they have shortened hours, so it's not like we are wearing them to the ground, but there's no way they could walk several miles at the end of the day, nor could we carry them so far. So no offense to other visitors, but Disneyland is for adults AND kids, so expect strollers of various shapes and sizes depending on the needs of the family using it.

We often navigate to an area or Land, park it, and leave it there while we do stuff in the area. We never take it on the RR. And we try to put it out of the way firing fireworks or parades.

Our oldest will be turning 5 this next trip. We briefly discussed bringing only the single for our DD2, but the walk back at the end of the day is what really makes that impossible still. I would definitely recommend bringing it.

Depends on the age of your kids. If small and nap in stroller is do jogged. If older and more for the too tired to walk part I'd do singles. Especially if you divide and conquer if kids want to split up.

I hated the Sit and Stand at Disney (but not other places) because of the large size. I found it really hard to get through the crowd. I would go with two small ones if you have the option.

As a parent who's been there and done that, I would recommend going with 2 singles. DisneyLAND is more confined and the crowds are bad enough just trying to walk through, let alone navigate a stroller.

We've used a sit and stand when my kids were smaller and lighter. It was great. I was always worried about using a side by side stroller because of all the reasons PP have mentioned. Mainly, the narrow walkways in some areas.

Now that they are older and bigger, we use two singles. It works out great for us. We usually just park them in one area and don't move them until we go to the other side of the park or we park hop. DH and DS6 can split up with me and DS4. DS4 always falls asleep at night and usually DH volunteers to bring him back to the hotel. So DS6 and I stay out later. DS6 is too old and too big now. We have already prepared him we are only bringing one stroller for our next trip. I am not looking forward to the walk back to the hotel with him at night.

OP, I think you know you're family best. Do what works best for you. I have seen tons of side by side stroller at the parks.

Does DL have stroller size limits like WDW does? Some of the double loggers are to big by WDW guidelines.

I've seen people in the parks with the huge bike trailer strollers...so not sure if there is a size limit.

So we are traveling may 12-19, kids will be 9 months and almost 3 so we will use the stroller a lot. I've only been to disneyland in June when it was crazy busy, so hoping it won't be so bad in May. I really want to take one stroller vs 2, just want to make it as easy for us as possible. Really don't like the idea of taking 2 strollers, just worried the double will be a pain.

I have been going to DLR for decades, always with twins or two toddlers in tow. We've done the double stroller route and single strollers, and believe me, it was much better with two singles. With the double, I spent most of my time waiting for a break in the mob so I could get through without hitting anybody. Much easier to maneuver with singles.

We've been with a 20 month old and a just turned three year old and again with a 2 1/2 year old and a four year old. I used a double all the time at home when they were that age and I was on my own, but since I had my husband along we went with two singles. I think I would find it extremely frustrating to try to get through the crowds with a double. It also made it a lot easier to split up.

One thing that worked well for us was to bring a small, light umbrella fold stroller and a full sized single with a big basket. We were actually able to fit the smaller stroller into the basket of the bigger one if we needed to. (We sort of threaded the smaller one between the seat and canopy of the big one and down into the basket.) It may sound a bit awkward, but once we found out we could do this it worked great, especially on our second trip when the four year old was able to walk on her own for quite a bit of the time. We'd tour around as a single stroller family, but when the older one started to get tired we'd whip out the little stroller and we'd be on our way. And at the end of the day it was great to be able to whip past all the families with doubles who were slowly motoring their way through the crowds. I'm sure a double would be fine too, you'd just need a lot more patience.

We like two singles. That way if we want to split up with the kids, we can. ie One stands in line while the other gets a table. It's nice to have that option!
