CaptainJack: Oh man, you are so lucky!!! :lovestruc

Hadley: I see the martini glass, if I unfocus my eyes... I miss donut holes. This diet thing STINKS. I want some caramel popcorn, lotsa chocolate, and a vat of Italian food. Hey... maybe I should go get some lunch, seeing as I can feel my face again (dentist appt this morning)...

*wave* I'm off to rummage for eatables. Oh, and to put some acorn squash seeds out to dry... cause evidently I eat bird food on this diet. :rotfl:

Brandie

Hiya,
Yeah, techinically I am not on a diet, but I am trying to eat healthy (oh and the pink dress incentive is there) so I was having ice water while the kids had donuts:sad2: The numb face sounds icky, glad you can feel it again:)

Hadley, you absolutely had me cracking up with Rio's trick of the eye! Now I can understand that Erica (who has an awesome martini flight photo out here on the DIS) would see the martini glass* :rolleyes1 , but a little surprised that your little guy caught it!

*Oh who am I kidding? *I* should have seen that!!!

.....Oh, and to put some acorn squash seeds out to dry... cause evidently I eat bird food on this diet. :rotfl:

Brandie

:rotfl2: Now that's a new one!

Kimberly, daytime BBC is dangerous to your sugar cravings. :headache: "How Clean Is Your House?" and "You Are What You Eat" are just EVIL. That crazy nutritionist on "You Are What You Eat" takes away people's meat and substitutes nuts. What's worse, watching all the count-up of the weekly food consumption made me WANT to eat the nuts! And in case it draws you in, a British "stone" equals 14 US pounds.

How are you feeling today, by the way?

Brandie, I'll have to DVR those to check them out. You've piqued my curiosity.

The patient is starting to feel better this evening. Thanks for asking. As Hadley pointed out, the antibiotics have started to do their work and are making a difference rather quickly…thank God! Even this morning the piercing pain in my throat was significantly diminished compared to when I went to bed. I was exhausted last night, but still had insomnia. So needless to say, I was past tired this morning and caught a second wind around 2:00 this afternoon.

We’ll see if I “force” myself to get tucked in bed at a decent hour. Why? FINALLY, Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy are back on with new episodes tonight. I don’t really want to wait to watch Grey’s!! I am starting to feel deflated however. I might have to start watching it in the bedroom and finish watching the recording over the weekend.

Speaking of the writers’ strike, I feel so bad for the multitude of people who are without work right now and cannot afford to be. Speaking of writers (don’t I just have the segueing going on tonight?!), Erica, have you submitted your new piece yet? When do you anticipate hearing back from them?

I was cleaning the closet today - trying to take some old clothing to the church yard sale in May and came across the pillow cases I embroidered and had signed back in October. I made them to give to the kids for Christmas and hid them - apparently too well!

Well, guess who got a little surprise today! Megan loved hers and I'll find out how Grady feels about his in about an hour.

I even made one for Cindifan's DD and still have hers too! She will get it on Sunday when we see her. So much for all the effort to make it a special Christmas gift.

Silly Me!

I hope everyone is having a nice Friday!

Tiffany

Tiffany: That's awesome!

As for my Friday... I think I'm on the Angry Robin Watchlist. Every tree outside my window has infuriated and puffed up Robins seeming to be keeping their beady little eyes on me. I keep telling them to stop trying to break into my house through the roof vents, and they're not happy with me AT ALL.

There's just nothing funnier than an angry robin at the moment. :rotfl: They're not taking my reaction well.

I can imagine they are very cute to watch! Do you have bird feeders, and are they empty?

I once had a bird feeder, but the birds destroyed it because I kept forgetting to refill it. Or it might have been the last big storm we had:confused3 . All I know is the only thing left hanging on my back deck is the hanger.

Someone did tell me I should move to Hollywood, because I could get a job with no problem right now ;)
Hope you feel better!

Tiffany: nope, no bird feeders. DH is afraid of the grass looking even worse than it currently does. :scared1: He won't even let me put out a squirrel feeder, because the squirrel mafia has the dog scared. *laugh*

Ok, I finally worked up the courage to enter my best travel picture in a contest. If you'd like to see it, it is here: http://www.concierge.com/cntraveler/contests/dreamtrip2008/january/MUF__uaiG6.jpg.html

All my pictures of India have emotion invested in them, but that's my most poignant.

Hope you enjoy it.

IT'S LANYARD TIME!!!!!
:confused3
For those of you who remember these discussions from months ago I
apologize for repeating information, but we have many new members so please bear with me:rolleyes1

Several of us who cruised together previously were the lucky recipients of custom lanyards with namebadges for our trip:woohoo: . While it seemed a bit of a silly idea at first, I think we all found that we loved getting these lanyards/name badges. So, in the great tradition of stealing good ideas, Erik and I would like to head up the effort to provide lanyards/name badges to this lovely group of people for our upcoming Double Dip Cruise:upsidedow .

What is a lanyard?
Simply put it is a piece of fabric worn around the neck with a plastic pocket on the end. Specifically, these lanyards will be customized for this cruise with our cruise "name" and dates imprinted on them. The fabric is a soft material about the width of a standard shoelace which is much more comfortable and light weight than the standard Disney pin lanyards. The pocket will come with a customized name badge in it and also makes a great place to keep your Key to the World card. There is a good view of them in the following photo:
DSCN0027.jpg

What about the name badge?
The name badges will be custom printed for everyone and given out along with the lanyards. The background of the badge will be our cruise logo. Each badge will have the DISboard name associated with the person (so if only one member of a group posts, everyone will have that DISboard name but if more than one member posts they can each have their own DISboard name). Below the DISboard name will be the name of the person (presumably:rotfl: ) wearing the badge. So, for my group all 6 of us (me, DH, DD, DS, DFiL and DMiL) will all have NHDisneylover as the DISboard name as I am the only poster, but each individual will have his/her own name printed below NHDisneylover (Hadley, Dave, Marika, Rio, Hank or Jan). This is so if we end up with 10 Daves someone familiar with the boards will quickly know which one is MY Dave:love: , etc.

Why have a lanyard at all?
There are lots of reasons. First, it makes finding your DISboard buddies (especially in the first day or two) much easier:dance3: . Secondly, they are a great place to keep your KTTW card:yay: . Third, it is a fun souvenir:lovestruc . You may find, as I did, that you wear or carry it with you just about the entire trip. You may prefer to wear it to the sailaway party while you are getting to know your fiends and then relegate it to your cabin for the remainder of the cruise (Dave did it this way). Whatever works for you is just dandy.

How do I get my Lanyard?
Soon, Erik and I will be gathering all the information we need to be sure everyone gets their lanyards/namebadges. Please wait to give us any information until we ask for it in order to prevent added confusion (as many of you know I live a confused life anyway:rolleyes: ). As we get close to sailing Erik and I will let everyone know one or two times and places we will be available for you to come and collect your lanyards on departure day. Any lanyards not collected at those times will be delivered to staterooms sometime the first evening/night aboard by Erik, Marika and myself (and we will not share the list of staterooms with anybody else).

Isn't that expensive???
Well it would be if Erik (and our fabulous SOs Jason and Dave) tried to underwrite the entire project ourselves. Luckily for all of us, many of you are willing to help provide this momento to all the DISsers in our group. This "lanyard team" has agreed to split the cost of the lanyards/badges. As a thank you all of their DISboard names will be listed on the back of the nametags (and in a few posts here and there--you gotta love these people). This group is BIG and keeps growing.
Here is a list of those currently on the lanyard team. If you would like to join in and help out PLEASE PM me and I will add you to the list.

The lanyard team consists of:
Tigger82174
NHDisneylover
Hoagie Pie
Buckeye Gal
StarGater
LuvtheEars
rkandmjsmommy
Scoobypop
Scoutsmom99
Silversea
Zweihund
anewmac
ilovemangoes

THANKS to all the above posters!

Finally, if anyone has any questions about the above info. please post them. I bet if you have a question then several others probably do as well.

Hadley, . . .
And you look about as tall as I am ;)

SHORT???? (see reason for edit) I am actually dead on average at 5' 5" but Dave is tall at 6' 5"
Marika (she turned 11 on the day after Christmas) was 5' 4" at her well check--she takes after her daddy:rotfl: I fully expect her to be taller than me on teh Double Dip:eek: Of course taht is not her on the photo. My little guy Rio is pretty average hieght, but thin as rail.

Thanks Kimberly. I assume from one of your posts indicating that we have two 5 year olds coming with us that you got my email. Two of the 5 year olds are boys. We do also have a third 5 year old girl and a 6 year old girl. I will look into signing my daughter up to get involved in the kid's chat this weekend. I have not looked at airfares yet, but the amounts referred to in these posts are much higher than I budgeted almost a year ago when we booked this cruise. Oh well, I guess we will pay what it costs. I am still negotiating with my daughter's next year teacher to see if we can get the time off to go down a few days early. Until that is concluded I can't book a hotel.

That would be great if you got your daughter all signed up for the Kids' Meets!!!

I looked up those in your party, and what you gave me didn't match up with what I have. Would you mind correcting me where I'm wrong, please? :)

Okay...I recorded both shows today, Brandie. After getting home from meeting a friend at Starbucks immediately after work for a Grande Chai Tea Latte and talking on the phone for an hour, I grabbed a Little Debbie Oatmeal Pie and sat down to watch "You are What you Eat"! :lmao: :happytv: I didn't even finish eating it before the crazy nutritionist, Dr. Julian, had me feeling guilty!! :guilty: I literally looked down at my half eaten oatmeal pie and painfully giggled. Needless to say, I'm hungry right now, and it's past 11:00 pm!! Honestly, I don't usually eat too badly for dinner, but it was most fitting being I was watching that evil show!

I was definitely drawn in, so thanks for the "stone" calculation. I had to use it twice in the half hour. Perhaps TMI (but I will keep it PG-13), however she had some really good one-liners! For example, "How can you feel well if you don't move your bowels?" or "You don't have a (whoopee) drive, do you?" (The woman nodded no, btw!)

Just in case you may be giving the same answer, let me tell you something I learned tonight. (Although we don't all have this problem! :rolleyes1 ) Zinc! Eat more zinc!! Apparently it will get those whoopee hormones flowing. Julian got the girl to start eating strawberries and not only did she fit into her wedding dress after 8 weeks, but she was ready for the honeymoon!!! :rotfl2: So if you’re looking to bring home a little Disney souvenir in September, I’ll meet you at the fruit bar! (Oh yeah…this is a mother/daughter birthday cruise. Darn. So I'll look for the evidence....your pile of luscious strawberries.) :lovestruc

Anywhooo....great show. In typical BBC America fashion, I'm certain this show will come to the States, too! No doubt it needs to!! That is unless Erica moves to Hollywood and writes some really awesome shows for us to watch!

PS: Beautiful contest photo, too, Brandie!

So Just got mine back... thats quick we went and applied new years eve. Mine though was just a renewal. The boys all had to get brand spanking new ones... aka spending more money LOL. (im the cheap one.. E would say easy too but thats another story LOL)

My question is my passport came but my marriage cert that I sent with it to prove my name change didnt? Do they normally come seperate or should I start applying for a new marriage certificate now ?? LOL .

Also speaking of E thought I would let you all know we heard from him 2nights ago, he was in Kuwait going through processing. Tonight we heard from him again and he is in Iraq safe and sound.. well as safe as can be LOL (he's pretty safe I dont worry TOO MUCH) He says his trailer is nice, and the TV and dvd player that he left there last time he got back from the guy that is getting to leave. (someone else left a tv for E on tour #3 so its been passed round and round and made its way back to him kind of nice they do that. But no clue how they got it in the 1st place LOL)

Ok off to watch Rapatuty (as J pronounces Rattatuie LOL)

Great to hear he's safe and sound, Drea! :) I'm sure he's glad to have the traveling to get there over. Now he/you can begin the countdown to the flight home!!! :yay:

Hope you and the boys enjoyed movie night!

Glad that E is safe and sound....My prayers are with him and all others serving our country!!!:cloud9:

God Bless Them All!!!!

charlie:woohoo:

Drea--thanks for letting us know that passports are moving right along again. I have been debating WHEN to apply for a new one for Mairka (can't just do a renewal on a child's:headache: ). Hers doesn't expire until January 2009, but that falls into the dreaded six month window for this cruise. So, I am trying ot find htat line close enough to the cruise that we don't have too many months we are paying for a passport to be there for no reason, but also be sure we get it back in plenty of time. Also:hug: I am glad E is settled in and safe.
