Marika is an old hand at the moving thing (5 states already). She still keeps in touch with two girls from Michigan (we've been here 2 1/2 years) so it IS possible to maintian friendships. Maybe Abby should give Marika a call (or vice versa!).

I would love Abby to call her. When and IF we get closer, we should set something up. It is DH's birthday tomorrow so at least he will have something to look forward to instead of worrying about work. Thanks to everyone for your kind words. I know you don't mean to be a wet blanket cyndifan, I appreciate ANY advice and support!!

You know, this getting to know each other & sharing stuff is pretty cool. Its such a different feel from talking w/folks on the WDW boards. For the most part, folks are all going at different times & probably won't see anyone from the boards at all unless you make a special effort. Instead, we'll all be sharing the same space for a week.

I totally agree!!! Talking with Hadley on the boards before the Transatlantic was cool, but hanging out with her and actually talking face to face was SUPER COOL! :cool1:

Totally!!!!!!

As for the Castaway Cay question from last page: We love just hanging out and doing nothing as well, and it is a short day as it is, so we haven't booked anything either. It is breathtaking and like no place else I have ever been.

I know Erik and Jason have booked a few excursions and loved them all, so I don't believe you could go wrong no matter what you pick!

We've done the jet ski eco tour (scary! but fun), the Castaway Rays stingray thing, bike rentals, float rentals, regular snorkelling, and boat rental. All were fun, with the exception of being a mile from shore in the most shark infested waters of the Caribbean......I mean, couldn't the guide have held back on that fact until we got back to shore???

This October we're doing CC the way it was meant to be - all relaxing, all the time. We MAY rent bikes or a float, but otherwise we're going to explore the island and do some well-deserved relaxing.

On OUR cruise, though, I might go for the cabana massage......:rolleyes1

Here's the official warning: I'm going to whine & whimper a bit.

I broke my pinky toe this morning.

Ouch!!! Here is some Bibbity Bobbity Boo to help make you feel better :wizard:

Yeah Yeah! I wish. I pray our house will sell and everything will work great with the interview.

I'm sending good vibes your way :goodvibes and a few prayers too!

I agree too!!!!: thumbsup2 Although I know Cindifan, it will be alot of fun at the sail away party and DIS meets to see everyone face to face! :woohoo:

Erika - can you tell me if your Ginger Chews are the Crystallised Ginger or is it something different?

I may need these! :confused3

I can't speak to what Erica uses, but I suspect they are what you see below. I love these as a snack on any day. YUM! In fact, I just bought this bag at Sunflower Market this past week as my supply was low. :)

I did the Eco Tour on our cruise last September and loved every minute of it!

Mama Force did the Parasailing, and although scared a bit, also reported loving it.

Ginger People, helping cure hangovers the world over......

Not that I know from experience or anything. :rolleyes1

Thank's to both of you! I will be on the lookout for them! Not that I'm going to need them or anything. . .:rolleyes1

Casteaway

If you wait til late in the day, you can get the bikes and floaties for free. I bought just a little snorkel set at the grocery store-no fins- for like $6 and went all the way out. I am a good swimmer, but with the vests they make you wear, I think any average swimmer could cut that. Try the vest inflated and deflated. If you are good, go deflated.

I also did the hiking, kayaking nature adventure thing one year. It was fun. I was 7 months pregnant (yes, I know, 24 weeks is the limit) and the walk was very doable.

Deanna where did you find free bikes? I haev only seen hour rentals the past few eyars and not seen any abonded. Always something to learn.

These past couple of days with D have been busy. Friday's Rio swim class is moved to the morning instead of the afternnon. So, we were at the lake from 9:30-3:00 in order to be there for both lessons. luckily the weather was nice and warm. D loved finding fish and tadpoles in the water and looking for little toads on land. Making volcanoes in the sand (baking soda and vinegar) was a big hit too. We do that every summer but usually on a quiet day. I had no idea that other families don't normally do this. We went through an entire 5 gallon jug of vinegar and tons of baking soda as every kid on the beach had to try it (DCL should make this an event a Castaway--it is so cheap and was a HUGE thing to the other kids at the beach). Another interseting thing which appears to be common to nearly all the Fresh Air Fund kids is a tremendous fear of insects:scared1: . Poor D has come running and jumping into my arms probably a hundred times since Tuesday (we have lots of insects here in the Granite State). Dragon flies are the worst as they are so big. Logic does not apply here (hey I am not logical about snakes so I figure he gets one too:lmao: ).
Today we went to Clark's trading post which is sort of like a small amusement park and then we rode the first ariel tramway in North American (actaully its repalcement) up Cannon Mountain. We were way up there and watched a cloud come towards us and then envelope us. Way cool! And kinda sppoky for a city kid. He was half enjoying it and half terrified (like many of us on a roller coaster) and I carried him most of the way (good thing he's small:rotfl2: ). When the cloud came in the temp. plunged and we had rain mixed with snow falling as we headed back down on the tramway (also cool in July).

Not that I'm going to need them or anything. . .

Yeah, I bet. Let me guess, this is in preparation for the destination unknown!! Since you'll be w/o the kidlets & all........:rolleyes1

Just in case you don't find them locally, here's the link to their website:

These sound good to me even w/o their post-hangover benefits. Of course, I really like ginger....especially the pickled ginger that comes w/sushi. Yum!!

Hadley,
Thanks for posting more about D's adventures. I was wondering last night how things were going. Told DH how cool I thought the whole thing is.

I knew about making volcanos, but never thought about doing this w/sand & out on the beach. I know DD would like doing this outside of school......

Oh boy, bugs are quite freaky! I know just what you mean about little ones getting freaked out about insects. DD is going through the same type of thing. Its not an insect, but it took me forever to talk DD into even touching an earth worm. Geeesh....... She is such a girly girl sometimes! princess:

Now this I've got to try with DS when we go to the beach in Aug! :cool1:

Would I do that??? :confused3 Thanks for the link!:thumbsup2 These do sound yummy! I'm a big fan of ginger too.

They are GREAT - I eat them as candy too, but they are motion sickness as well. So versatile! :thumbsup2

Okay, I totally missed this (and a couple other posts after it) yesterday or I would have responded sooner. It was AWESOME meeting Sandi and Darell and Chris and Rob, and Erik and Jason and Deanna (and many others) on board the transatlantic after chatting for a few motnhs before hand (and we have over a year to chat this time around!). I know it sounds silly to those of you that weren't there, but I honestly feel that some of the online friendships I cemented onboard that two week cruise are among the strongest and best friendships I have now (or have ever had). I was really lucky to meet up with and cruise with such an amazing bunch.

Hi Father Force--I just have to let you know I had read (and thouroughly enjoyed) your DCL TR. I have (until getting on this thread and wanting to read all kinds of things posted by my crusiemates) not bothered with WDW TRs. SO, tonight I read your WDW report. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I can't tell you how often David gave me odd looks as I burst out laughing tonight. Oh, and I love your Forcerants (okay, I admit to being of much the same persuasions as is David--if you read all the posts from your DIS absence you'll see I am Dharma after all). There was a line about being a liberal white male of German descent who was raised Catholic which really got me--That's not you; it's David! Oh I am so happy the author of what may be the funniest TR ever is cruiseing with us.
