Oh one more thing Heather...

Your King of Everything Wild will be joined with four other boys his age. Additionally, Doug46 has some friends joining us with a 5 year old as well but I don't know the gender.

Drea, I LOVE your costume idea! You're an adorable couple!

You know what makes me smile? I have this button on the steering wheel of my car, that when pushed makes the word "CRUISE" light up on the panel.....

Snow: ...Ooh, I just remembered, we got a pony last March and he pulls a cart. It has sleigh runners! I want to try them out! Won't that be fun? :rolleyes1 Dashing through the snow...:rolleyes1

I never thought about that cruise light in the car in the way you pointed out. Love it!

Chris, I'm :rotfl: at your snow anticipation. I insist we get a picture of this when it does snow and you get out there!!

BTW, how is the church since the flood this summer?

Well living just north of Toronto in Ski country no snow here none in the near future. See not all Canadians live in igloos :) But you might want to start making yours :):lmao:

First, let me say WOW!!!!! Sounds like there's some awesome organizers on this Thread, & there's already so much in the works :) Just makes me giddy knowing there's so much already planned:banana:

I will check out post #577 to catch up & post anything extra~

And other boys his age...that's awesome! Last week, I brought glow sticks for the Mickey Pool at night, & DS made some friends that way (by sharing them; as an ice breaker of sorts). We made a "message board" friend for him before we left but it never worked out getting together on the boat. I'm more hopeful this time around! He always would go to the Mickey Pool looking for a "friend" to play with (he says).

When DS naps today, I'll hop on and read through #577...

Here's a Pirate Party pic of our family :)

Drea, Fiona says you went as a Princess. I'll let you tell her otherwise! :rotfl:

So Friday night, I made a big bowl of caramel popcorn in a desperate attempt to get some food in kiddo (who refused to eat well for a couple of days) and to try and get those ears to drain. I -think- it has worked, because the fever has gone down since then, and didn't return last night. This kid tends to have 103.6 degree fevers with her ear infections, but this time the highest I let it get was about 101.7. Kiddo "shared" the popcorn with me, then finished it off. I'll check her ears out today with EarCheck, but I hope the ick is done. She still occasionally talked in a hoarse voice yesterday and lost her voice once, but that's ok! She's just sneezing this morning, versus coughing.

Well, I just got told to make her some celeal (cereal), so I'll talk to you guys later.

Oh, and we got rain and sleet overnight, but the sky is still icky-looking.

Brandie

What AWESOME pirate costumes, Heather!! I love that all your hats are coordinating, too!

I was at Jo-Ann's yesterday looking at fabrics to consider for a pirate costume. I'm still unsure what I want to do........

Brandie that baby girl need sto get better! Poor sweet thing....I hope she breaks away from all these problems soon.

/
Buckeye Gal, Fiona seems to be much better this morning!

So, between 6:30 am (when I first checked and saw no snow) and now, I think we have 2 inches of snow and LOTS of snow continuing to fall! Not white-out conditions, but definitely a reason for hot cocoa!

Good morning Kimberly.......are you still beaming from the Buckeye's win last night?

Both my kids are going as pirates for halloween this year so we can recycle the costumes for the pirate party ! My DD's came last week, it is the sassy victorian pirate but since she is so tall, it was way too short. We bought some fabric at walmart and added a layer to the bottom to make it longer. That was an all afternoon project with the help of my Mom who actually knows how to use a sewing machine! DS's came straight from Gymboree!
Now, we are going to try to pick up some adult costumes on clearance after Halloween for me and DH!

Talk to you soon,
Crissi

Well, I am NOT a seamstress what so ever, so sewing costumes wasn't an option for me!

For DS, I went to a second hand children's clothing store & went to the girl's section. Found some black satin cargo pants & a white button up shirt with a brown vest already attached. Perfect! I spent about $7 on those items.

For myself, I had a white shirt & I hot glued some white cuffs onto it (from the fabric store embellishment section). I found the black leather vest for $1 at our local GoodWill (after months of searching!). The red pesant skirt was on clearance at Ross for $9. My black head scarf was a loan from my Mom.

DH wore some black swishy athletic pants & I found some "pirate boot covers" at Target in the Halloween section. They were more expensive ($9) than I wanted to spend, but it saved DH from needing other shoes. I got a ladies maroon "puffy shirt" at GoodWill for DH for a few bucks & luckily, it didn't have buttons. Instead it had a deep V neck, so I bought some leather cording at the fabric store & a big, fat needle & threaded laces into the V neck.

I bought 2 yds of fabric from the clearance aisle that was marron/reddish with black snake skin pattern and cut all of our sashes from that. It was really cheap...I think $2 for the 2 yds. I just kept looking for the "right" pattern and found one I liked eventually!

The hats, earrings, & bandannas came from Oriental Trading Company. Acutally, I purchased a hat for DS, and when it came, it was the cutest $6 hat I've ever found, so I express ordered two more hats for DH & myself. Luckily, they came the day before we left for our cruise, so we had them in time! I loved having matching hats...

So that's how our pirate costumes came to be....

Lucky for us, we have Halloween clearance to check out this year, & 11 whole months to find bargains elsewhere!

OK, because I haven't read through 2000+ posts yet, has anyone else found some cute pirate costumes yet? Other than DS (who will outgrow his costume!) we'll be wearing the same things....

You did an awesome job on your pirate costumes....they are perfect !

Look forward to meeting you and your family!

Hi All -

Well, my project is FINALLY over, so I'll be around much more now. Phew! I might actually have time to work on my trip report, if I'm lucky.

Welcome to the new peeps, great to have you aboard!

Oh, and did we mention we are trying to find away to sneak in yet another 3-day? :rolleyes1 Of course, that was decided after much alcohol-indulgence, and in today's hangover state seems......well, it still seems like a great idea. Hehe.

Happy Sunday!

Great to see you again, Erica, and to know you survived your big project! I know there are several of us looking forward to your trippie! So another cruise, huh? :rotfl2: Good for you!

More Dry Dock Chatter: "Andrew DEREK UK" made the following post. He summarized many thoughts about 2009, one of which I hadn't previously read regarding why the dry-dock will be 3 weeks instead of the typical 2 weeks. It might be an old rumor to you, but it was new to me. :)

I signed up for the Fish Extenders adn I had no idea what they were for :lmao: They Are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute.

Here is a post I foudn about making them

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&page=2&highlight=fish+extenders

Not sure I am that crafty but I will give it a try

OKKKKAAAYYYYY....
As you can tell, I'm working through ALL the posts to get up to date.

And I think I need the Biggest Ding Dong award. I never understood why the heck these things were called "fish extenders"...what exactly do they have to do with fishing?

OK...DUH...they hang on that little fish on the wall, thus EXTENDING down from the fish.

Boy, I am really slow... :rolleyes1

Hey everyone.....

No, Jason and I haven't been abducted by aliens....just been very, very busy lately with work and stuff going on here and planning our upcoming trips (we have a couple trips coming up in the next several weeks where we're doing our best to combine business trips with pleasure/Disney trips).

I can't even begin to catch up since I can barely remember when I last posted....but I tried to catch up.....and I guess there's lots of "congrats" for new babies....lots of "hope you (or your kids) feel betters" and lots of welcomes to new folks!! Did I cover everything? :lmao: (Oh yeah...and a "break a leg" for Hadley and Dave in Pippin!! :thumbsup2 )

We're definitely looking forward to this trip although, I confess, it's a little hard to focus on THIS one when we have a trip to DisneyLand AND a trip to WDW in the next 6 weeks that seem way more immediate!! :rotfl2: This trip did become a bit more real, however, because yesterday afternoon was the beginning of our 11 month window to book at our home resort. I have to call back every day this coming week to add each day to the reservation...but we are pretty much solid for checking into a 1-bedroom villa at Animal Kingdom Lodge with Savannah View on Friday Sept. 19th, 2008 and we'll be staying there until we check out and the bus brings us to the Port on the 27th for the cruise!! We're undecided as yet if we're going to stay in Orlando for a few days after the cruise or go straight home...but we have time to decide that.

Count us in too. We just booked this cruise from our Magic cruise last week.

Hey Drea,

I didn't realize you guys were in the DL area. Meeting you guys would be great if you wanted!

We leave on Saturday morning, Nov. 3rd to Anaheim. We're staying (using our DVC points) at DisneyLand Hotel from Saturday 11/3 through Tuesday, 11/6 (when we have to checkout and pick up a rental car at the Alamo in/near Downtown Disney and drive to Palm Springs where I'm attending the U.S. Conference on AIDS for work until Saturday, 11/10). I know we are meeting a group of friends from our recent TransAtlantic cruise on Saturday night 11/3 to eat at one of the resort restaurants (I think they're leaning towards Hooke's Point)...and we have ressies for lunch on Sunday, 11/4 at Blue Bayou. Beyond that we haven't worked out our entire schedule yet.....but we're wide open. We're still looking over parade and show schedules and restaurant menus and such to figure out what we want to do and when....this is our first trip every to DisneyLand so we're VERY excited!!!

OK...I've read pages 1-54 of this thread...and now my eyeballs are going to fall out.

So if I've missed something, please forgive me. I promise to read the other bazillion posts the next time DS takes a nap! Lucky for me, he naps for hours at a time, so today all I've done is unpacked from our cruise last week, & read this thread. Poor, poor me :)

Anyway--noticed around page 50 that there were offers to make fish extenders for those of us who cannot sew (I'm so bad that DH even sews on buttons that have come off!)...is that offer still on the table?

I am so excited to look for the "perfect" fabric combination for our family, but I don't even know how much fabric to purchase.

So if anyone out there is still willing to help (heck, I'll even pay you to make one!) I would be ever so greatful. :cloud9:

well today was the day my daughter alex filmed the music video. they are hopping to have it edited by christmas. if you want to check out their site its www.splashnboots.com, they have a blog and are going to be posting pictures of the filming on it.( those of you from ontario with kids should check it out. maybe they will be playing near you)
