Being a first-timer . . . what is The Stack? And there is a college meet?--That's great! (It's also great that you look young enough to go w/your son!:thumbsup2 ) That's a bummer about losing the credit for the class . . . I guess your son is disappointed. I am a bit concerned about the 3 days my girls will miss, even though they are really good students. One is off to a rocky start in accelerated math.:teacher: I haven't told the teachers, yet. Will send a note in on Monday.

The Stack is the Teen group, ages 13 - 17 year olds.. They have all the fun stuff.. Wii, Playstation, etc.. On past cruises, we never saw our son expect at Dinner and when we did excursions :upsidedow

I am 35 and Hubby is 38, so other then some stray greys, I still get carded at a Liquor Store.. The sales associate gets more embarassed then I do

I would not worry too much about the girls missing some school.. DS was always given the OK and time to make up the work..

Well, this is my last planned posting before I see you guys! I have just a few departing words that I wanted to pass along.

First, business: As previously promised, I do have zip ties in everyone's FE bag, which I'll try to distribute Sat night, or worse case, sometime Sunday. If by chance I missed a bag and you would like one, just leave me a written or vmail message at our room, 7122, because I packed the remaining 10-15 extras that I had and would be happy to drop one off to you.

If desired, don't forget to print off Post #1 and ensure if there are links to info you need that you print those off too.

I'm leaving the laptop at home, so I'll have limited use of checking the DISboards. I can log in via my phone, but it will be impossible to keep up, so I won't even try! So if for any reason someone needs to reach out to me personally, please send your msg via a PM, which I indeed will check at the beginning and end of the day. My phone number is also on our website under the Cocoa Beach meets thread.

Now, more personal: I pray for everyone's safe travels to and from the port and hope that you all just have a blast! For those of you who are cruising to celebrate an occasion, I hope it's just that more special for you!

Finally, I am so thankful that I found the DISboards 17 months ago because I'm extremely grateful to have gotten to know all of you on here. You've all left an impression on me one way or another. (I for one will I'll never look at mayonaise the same way again!) I'm beyond excited to meet each and everyone of you in person!! Some I'll get to meet at Pop Century or other locations at WDW, the Radisson at PC, and likely at Grills in Cocoa Beach Friday night. I'll recognize some of you in the port terminal, and even more of you at the DIS meets and beyond. It's just going to be two wonderful weeks for me to share this experience with all of you and then to have an awesome time for our three generation/double birthday celebration with my family. It's a wonderful way to spend my first Disney cruise. (okay....here come the tears!) **flapping hands to my eyes** I very much look forward to hearing lots of stories after we get back, too!

Everyone, please have a MAGICal time and enjoy and appreciate all those precious moments that come your way that you'll keep with you for a lifetime.

Bon Voyage, my DIS family!

PS: Erica, don't forget to turn the lights out here before you leave on Saturday!

Stacy:

how is your shoulder??

I am older than you...and your son is 18???? ;)

The shoulder is Better!! Thank You!!

and Yes, this year was VERY hard for me, I turned 35, son turned 18, Graduated HS & EMT/EMS school :guilty: He is our Only child which made it even harder.. so I am VERY VERY excited he wanted to still cruise with us this time.. :thumbsup2

Wow! 35 and still getting carded! I am jealous! The last time I was carded I was 27, and it was at a liquor store. (I have a lousy memory, but somehow I remembered that.) So, we're opposites as far age goes--I am an "older" mom. I'm 44--had the girls at 32. The Stack sounds great. We are traveling w/2 teen girls (not to mention 10 and 11 yr old girls), but they are veteran cruisers and probably know all about The Stack already. I am trying not to worry about school. Just hoping their teachers are understanding--I taught English for 12 years, and I have to say, sometimes vacations meant unwelcome, extra work for me.:sad2: Whatever . . . it will all work out fine!

We're at orange and I'm not talking Halloween pumpkins!

So why is it, this system becomes a little better organized, and I have tons left to pack!

It is very scary when the weather is more organized than I am :scared1:

We are also on the 9/12/09 cruise:thumbsup2

Maureen

Awesome! Guess we will be chatting for quite some time!

AWESOME!!! :woohoo: They are a GREAT group over there as well.. We are doing a Back to Back with that cruise.. It will be our 1st B2B :yay:
Did you see the Nemo Tortolling Magnet on Post 1 ? It is made so anyone can use it..

I just started reading - they are a chatting group but I see what you mean! I love the logo they made - great job! We haven't done a B2B - hubby would love to - maybe next year...

Wow, it is so nice that your son still wants to cruise w/you at 18! It says a lot about him as a son and about you and your DH as parents.:)

Drinking age in Grand Cayman is 18
Drinking age in Cozumel is Cash or 18

Thanks for the welcome. That's great--so many 12 year olds! I am sure they'll all have so much fun together!:cheer2:

Yeah ... and soooooo many girls. My *son* is going to LOVE that. ;)

Wait a minute, I didn't get deck 2 either. Can I trade someone something for a deck 2? Pretty please.;) I have a fab deck 1 here..only one owner, low mileage, it's a steal!;)

Did you get one?? I can email it to you if you need it. Just PM me.

Those of you with 10-11 year olds....

Are you letting them check themselves out of the kids clubs? And, if so, allow them to go where? My older son is a month shy of his 11th birthday so he can likely choose to go with the 8-10's or 11-12 group.und playing in the elevator or whatever.

This is our first cruise, and I've got a 12 yo. He IS going to be able to check in and out on his own. He's a good kid and will do what he needs to do. He's also got charging ability on his card.

The children we will have with us.. Boy 11, Girl 12, Girl 14 are also first time cruisers.. Our son is 18 so if he isn't in The Stack, with the 14 year old, he will be with any College kids, IF they are on the ship.. I told my son, he's lucky I still look kinda young, so I will be going with him to the 1st College Meet so he doesn't have to go alone just in case no one shows up. 2 of the cruisers that were suppose to be with us as well, had to cancel because 1 of their College Proffesors told them, they'd lose credit for his class  Even though one is an honor student..

That's just *wrong*. Can you say "dropped class?" LOL!!

Ahhhhh ... Kimberly, that's so sweet. I agree. I have had such a great time in the planning of my trip, and it's been because I got on these threads. This has been a wonderful experience for me. Thank you to ALL of you who have welcomed me and helped me do the little extras that will make our trip that much more fun. :)

I'm going to have that next year. My middle child becomes a teenager, and my oldest will turn 18, graduate, and ship off to boot camp. :sad2: It will be quite a year, I'm sure.

I think it's just because he FINALLY gets to go to Palo for a meal :rotfl2: All of our past cruises he was too young and all the "adults" would talk so much about it, he was jealous..

Palo: if you haven't figured it out yet, with all the recent Palo chat, is the adult 18+ only restaraunt. You pay $15 per person but the food is well worth it!!

Thank You so much for your kind words.. DS is actually mine from a previous marraige, whom DH adopted as his own when DS was 9.. We have been with DH since our son was close to 8 years old.. DS & I went through alot together, I was 16 when I got pregnant and married his bio father at 18. His bio father is an alcholic.. He got abusive with me, never DS *thank goodness*, and grew apart. He wanted to Party and I wanted to be a responsible parent for my son.. DH has been a VERY strong role model for DS and they respect each other so much.. We are very blessed to have found DH.. :lovestruc It's funny, when you see the two of them together, you would Never think they weren't full blood father & son.. So many people tell us how they look alike.. :goodvibes
