Jason and I are actually buying tuxes this summer before the trip. We have typically rented them onboard in the past...because we actually HATE wearing nice clothes...so we had no reason to own a tux and renting it saved room in the bags. HOWEVER, after a few cruises we realized that if we just broke down and bought them...then after about 2 cruises they'd be paid for (because it's almost $100 to rent a tux when is all said and done). So we decided that we'd just go ahead and buy them....and who knows now that we own them maybe it'll shift the karma in our state in the right direction and NY will decide to legally recognize our relationship and then we'll already have our outfits for a wedding (FINALLY!!!)!! :cool1:

Actually...everyone will think it's ironic that Jason and I hate dressing up in nice clothes since the ONLY time we ever dress nicely is on the cruise! :lmao: We wear ties to dinner every night....Disney ties every night! We have quite a collection of disney character ties!!

Funny - I was just at Disneyland the week that CA began recognizing same sex marriages and we talked to several recently married couples celebrating their vows!!!!! It was a popular celebration destination! Some were dressed up in their tuxes with ears on!!!

I bet the 90-day'ers are getting really excited!! The time is almost here.

Anyone planning on doing the stingrays on CC? If so, what time(s) are you planning for? According to the ressies page, the earliest time looks like 10AM. We've booked for that window via the extreme package. I may change that though since we plan on bringing our own snorkel gear, you can bring your own floaty type thing & we may or may not get to the bikes that go 'round at CC. So looks like we'd be paying for a lot we may/may not use. The afternoon is pretty much taken up w/lunch & a couples cabana massage. So all this would pretty much need to be in the morning. Feels pretty crowded to try to get that all in.

Anyone see a reason NOT to back it down to just stingrays? I mean, we can always rent the bikes there at CC the day of if it looks like we'll get to it.

I think if you bring your own gear, add up the cost of the stingrays and renting bikes (I think the bikes are only $6 each per day per person) and if it's cheaper.....just book stingrays and rent bikes if you feel like it!

Hi all, just joining the thread DH and I are booked and starting to get really excited - our last cruise was a year ago and we are missing it big time!!! I haven't had a chance to go back through the thread yet but look forward to chatting with all of you!:cool2:

Welcome! :thumbsup2

Paid in FULL
Insurance bought

You guys are stuck with me.

:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :bride:

Woohoo! :woohoo:

Janet & I are with you in that we would love to be recognized. We reach our 21 year this August. I don't see how anyone can say that is not a valid relationship. I gladly stand up to the test anytime. Lois

Awesome!!!!

I hope to be able to say Lionel and I are celebrating our 21st anniversary one day. We're only on 4 right now ;) congrats to you two!

The Disney website is maintained by IBM Global Services here in Boulder, Colorado. Yes, I used to work there, and the team that does that support was right around the corner. VERY nice people, EXTREMELY overworked.

Heh - I didn't know that! My DH works for IBM and has been out to that place in Boulder - but for another project. He has nothing to do with DCL site (hmmm....I wonder if DCL perks come with that....) but if it would make Lois feel better she can rant at my DH for awhile. :lmao:

How do I get to see Erik and Jason's ties? I'm just imagining them every night arriving in the lobby - and there is a line of people to see them - like the character greetings that folks line up for - ;)

I agree on the marriage thing - hope you guys get to use the tuxes soon and anywhere you please.:thumbsup2

Is there a plan for everyone to meet before the lifeboat drill? We did that on our last cruise - we met at the Promenade Lounge about an hour before the drill. I hope we get to do that this time.

We also all met for breakfast informally at Lumiere's one morning - like at 9am. That was was our PJ party breakfast (some came in PJ's I think - not me!). Those who wanted to go just showed up.

I think the lanyards are going to be really helpful for us to identify each other - that is such an awesome idea.:goodvibes

DH has many many disney ties too.. The only problem is he is left handed and can not tie them.. :confused3 He normally makes his Grandfather tie them for him.. :thumbsup2

We might be in the minority, but dh isnt even bringing his suit this time around. A dress shirt and tie will be about it. Ds son has a shirt/tie too.
I am still trying to come up with what we are wearing for our family theme picture. Last year we did the dress clothes and Steelers, the Steelers one looked 10x better. :)
Maybe Penguins hockey?

Welcome alleluia5 !! I have a ds who is 5. dd is 8.

ARE YOU TWO LISTENING?!?! Erik and Jason's nuptials is one wedding I really WANT to attend--and hopefully in the near future--come on New York be one of the leaders on this movement. . . (Lois, I can't remember where you are located--somewhere south I think but I do truly hope that ALL of the U.S. will realize love is a good thing and make the laws apply as they should. You and Janet deserve the same legal status I share with Dave:) --and I do not just HOPE about it. I WORK for it when and how I can and I vote with that as a major issue Okay I will get off my soap box now:rolleyes1

Welcome to alleluia5 :)

Yep, the date for Castaway Cay members is Sunday the 29th at 12:01!!:cool1:

Since I already booked the dolphin encounter independently at Cozumel I think I will be okay with all my other bookings. We don't plan on Palo so that alleviates alot of stress.

OOOH...now there's a fun idea! I hadn't thought of that...but that could be very cool!

We were already talking to Hadley and Dave when they were here a couple weeks ago about the plan. Once NY makes it legit, we're going to run right to city hall and have it done to become legal and all that in a civil service/ceremony....but we'll have the real deal event at WDW. (Right now Disney won't do "weddings" for same-sex couples but they will do commitment ceremonies and they offer vow renewals for people who are already legally married....so we plan to do the legal deal here, but have our public ceremony/celebration there).

We were originally going to do the ceremony on the Magic or at Castaway...but I don't think many of our friends/family would be able to afford that trip....so instead we'll do it at WDW (and then people have the option to even stay on the cheap off property or all rent a timeshare home together or whatever) so people can attend....and then take a honeymoon DCL cruise after but invite all our friends, relatives and guests to join us for the cruise, too....if they want!

Of course I probably need to fill in Jason on all these elaborate plans so he's aware!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm a bit like Galinda in Wicked, huh?:

Galinda: Fiyero and I are going to be married!
Elphaba: He's asked you already?!
Galinda: Oh he doesn't know yet!

I dont even 'know" you guys yest but I would try to make it to the wedding and I would definitly wear a Disney Tie:) The invitations should read "Disney Tie Mandatory" instead of "Black Tie Optional"

:rotfl: Everyone deserves their own happily ever after. :thumbsup2

Stacy, great idea of everyone wearing Disney ties!! That would indeed be too fun!

Erik, it sounds like you have some perfect plans laid out! Just tell Jason to meet us at Rockin' Bar D on our 80's night, and we'll fill him in!

Lois, any special requests from you and Janet?

pfishgirl: I love the Disney Ties required at their wedding idea:thumbsup2

I truly believe that love is love, it doesn't matter if it's between a man and a woman or a man and a man. I want one of my best friends (who is gay) to be able to enjoy married life like I will be able to some day. Thank you for listening to my rant and I too will step off my soap box too!

Sounds like a plan!!!

LOVE the Wicked quote! I'm sure Jason will be more than happy to hear that you have so much planned out already! I'm REALLY looking forward to the 7 nights of Disney ties. It doesn't get any better than a Disney tie! :thumbsup2

:hyper: I am excited and there isn't even a wedding yet :hyper: Just the thought of it makes me Happy :woohoo: I will look for a special DCL tie in September !! ::yes::

Janet and I are in the midwest where they made same sex unions illegal. It is now part of the consitution that marrage is only for a man and a woman. I am not sure what they think I am going to do but I guess I am destroying the family unit. You know I really don't think anyone needs help in that department and if a family is doing what they need to no body can destroy the family.

If it was made legal we just might do it but we have already said our vow in front of God and family and friends. As far as I am concerned we are married and I really don't need a piece of paper to validate my love for her.

Erik and Jason I can not wait to meet you and see all your Disney Ties. I don't know if I would wear a tie to your wedding, would you accept other Disney attire?

Look what I just found on the Magnet thread!!!! Oh I am just soooo excited now. Lois

Oh my gosh, Lois!! I LOVE it! I bet seeing that "in writing" makes it feel so much more real and closer!

You bet ya!!! I wish I could do the stuff some of the folks can. Brooklyn did this for me and she made one for my sister as well. I am sure there will be many others. We are at 88 days and still counting!!!! Lois
